A suspect is now in custody after a rapid, multi-state investigation into the deaths of three women in rural Utah. Here's how the case unfolded: 📍 Wednesday afternoon: Two women were found dead near a trailhead and a third victim was discovered dead at her residence in Rural Utah. 📍 Building the timeline: Investigators believe the suspect killed the elderly woman first, took her vehicle to the trailhead, and fled the scene in one of the hikers' cars 📍 Trying to find the suspect: Law enforcement uses Flock License Plate Reader technology to track the stolen vehicle across New Mexico, Arizona, and into Colorado 📍 Thursday: Miller is located, the vehicle is found abandoned, and he is arrested without incident — less than 24 hours after the investigation started 📍 Now: Miller is held in Colorado on weapons charges, awaiting extradition to Utah where he is expected to face murder charges @Flock_Safety License Plate Reader technology helped investigators follow the trail across state lines and close in on the right vehicle at the right time.

Chief Nishant Joshi said it best: “Technology doesn't replace humans… but anytime we can use technology to make ourselves much more efficient and effective, we're moving in the right direction.” In California, Flock cameras helped CHP identify a vehicle in a hit-and-run investigation and helped Alameda officers arrest a stolen vehicle suspect with a firearm and fake federal IDs. The cameras capture plates, not people—so agencies can solve more cases while respecting community privacy.

The most dangerous scenarios are the ones with the least information. Flock DFR gave the Hawthorne Police Department critical awareness during an encounter with an armed suspect, helping officers locate and apprehend the suspect before the situation escalated. Early visibility meant safer decisions for officers and the community. See how Flock DFR helps reduce uncertainty in high-risk calls.
