@CarolinePo75107 I (just!) remember Newsham station, from visiting my mum's parents on Plessey Road.
English

I do love Railway Art. This is called "Newsham Station".

@radioparr Have a great Christmas Mike and keep on posting in 2026, your take on the world is always interesting.

@MourningSun2014 @lf_p It is horrible, but I don't blame putting the motorway in... if the full urban motorways had been built as planned under the Council leader who inspired them, Newcastle could have become the capital of the north, with the jobs that came with it: instead they went to Leeds :-(.
English

@lf_p Horrible, isn't it. City Council to blame, that part of the city is a disgrace. Putting the central motorway through there in the early 70s and redevelopment cut off the East from the city centre, it's been downhill ever since. Sad to see it as it is now.

Roll on Friday.

@Blyth_Spartans stats
Half way point in league
Used 37 different players in 21 games
1st point from last 5 played
4th red card of season, last 2 times game ended 1-1
Only 1 Saturday league home win in 2025 that was back on 25th Jan
14 Saturday league homes since that win

@MourningSun2014 @CarolinePo75107 That's really interesting, thanks: I had no idea that ever existed, I'll try to find out more if I can.
English

@CarolinePo75107 Might be relics of the old railway that was built, with a station at Brier Dene, but the line was never used, rails taken to France in WW1 and project abandoned after the war. Think the line was built as far as Collywell, you can see part of it from Seaton Sluice

Remains of something at Brierdene, Whitley Bay. Some lovely Autumnal colours there.

@WilliamClouston @DavidBe31099196 @LizWebsterSBF @elonmusk William, you are as ever the master of understatement...
English

I actually live in a small English village. It’s total codswallop what @elonmusk is saying.
We’re not “hobbits under siege” we’re ordinary people - how rude to patronise us like this.
It’s fear-mongering dressed up as folklore.
English

@ITMagpies Ottimo lavoro, ragazzi! Se avessi saputo che sareste venuti qui sarebbe stato bello salutarvi tutti.

@operamagazine @santafeopera This is on YouTube but I'd love to find a professional audio release.
English

The great Lorca opera? Villa-Lobos’s Yerma was premiered at @santafeopera #OTD in 1971. Even the reclusive Georgia O’Keeffe turned up in the audience that night.

Friends! It’s #GotchaDayForTheTriplets
so we thought we’d share the first video of them with Baby Dog trying to play/look after them. This is where their relationship began… a whole year ago! We’ll post several things today, including a brand new photo of the Triplets together (which is hard to achieve!) Please share for us! We might get their special day trending if we are lucky! 🧡🤎🧡 #catsofX

@ClassicalCritic @philharmonia @deccaclassics @thewamozart The Ashkenazy set is fine... though I online Barenboim, too.
English

#morninglistening to VladimirAshkenazy, whose Mozart Concertos w/the @philharmonia are perfectly fine, perfectly overlooked & suffer from competition deemed "more naturally Mozartean". Anyone's actually heard them?

English

@Malcolm_theCat That is a lovely video, how gentle and peaceful can Cleo be!
English

Friends! Today’s video is to show you that Lady Cleo is becoming a Love Bug! Every morning and evening now she comes to Mum for Fuss and Cuddles - it’s lovely and we hope you find the video calming🩷
Secondly, we are aware from the news of the earthquake in the Pacific and the potential tsunami danger to people in Hawaii, the US and Japan. These are places close to our hearts and we are sending our love at what must be a scary time. Please stay safe ❤️❤️❤️
English

@OrpheusL The sound on some of the studio recordings is adequate but many of the performances are electric.
English

@operamagazine @bay_staatsoper Perhaps he got the inspiration for this while he was president of the Reichsmusikkammer; they must have been real peace-lovers, mustn't they?
English

What price peace? Richard Strauss’s pacifist opera Friedenstag - Peace Day - was premiered in Munich @bay_staatsoper #OTD in 1938.

English

@conductorben I am of course sorry to hear of RN's passing but some of his work was, to my mind, ill-conceived at best. Why play Mahler on period instruments and without vibrato when recordings of his contemporaries Walter and Klemperer attest to how inappropriate that was?
English

@StevenIsserlis There are many cd box sets issued which make me shake my head but a comprehensive Huberman box is long overdue... presumably all of his recordings are public domain now (or am I wrong in thinking that?)
