Unfortunately, I was impacted by today’s layoff by Coinbase. During my time at @coinbase as a blockchain security engineer, I had the opportunity to work on the smart contracts of multiple high impact projects including: - The Base Solana bridge. - The x402 protocol. - The upcoming Base Azul upgrade . - Multiple Ecosystem reviews for builders on Base. - An AI-powered smart contract auditing tool being used internally. And many other internal projects within @base and @coinbase. Many thanks to @jessepollak and @sha2nk_ for the opportunity to secure important contracts in crypto and further improve my skills among a high achievers. This layoff came sudden and unexpected, and I will be looking for my next opportunity as a Blockchain Security Engineer or Smart Contract Engineer. I’ll also be back to auditing contests and private audits which I haven’t done in a while.

This is an email I sent earlier today to all employees at Coinbase: Team, Today I’ve made the difficult decision to reduce the size of Coinbase by ~14%. I want to walk you through why we're doing this now, what it means for those affected, and how this positions us for the future. Why now Two forces are converging at the same time. We need to be front footed to respond to both. First, the market. Coinbase is well-capitalized, has diversified revenue streams, and is well-positioned to weather any storm. Crypto is also on the verge of the next wave of adoption, with stablecoins, prediction markets, tokenization, and more taking off. However, our business is still volatile from quarter to quarter. While we've managed through that cyclicality many times before and come out stronger on the other side, we’re currently in a down market and need to adjust our cost structure now so that we emerge from this period leaner, faster, and more efficient for our next phase of growth. Second, AI is changing how we work. Over the past year, I’ve watched engineers use AI to ship in days what used to take a team weeks. Non-technical teams are now shipping production code and many of our workflows are being automated. The pace of what's possible with a small, focused team has changed dramatically, and it's accelerating every day. All of this has led us to an inflection point, not just for Coinbase, but for every company. The biggest risk now is not taking action. We are adjusting early and deliberately to rebuild Coinbase to be lean, fast, and AI-native. We need to return to the speed and focus of our startup founding, with AI at our core. What this means To get there, we are not just reducing headcount and cutting costs, we’re fundamentally changing how we operate: rebuilding Coinbase as an intelligence, with humans around the edge aligning it. What does this mean in practice? - Fewer layers, faster decisions: We are flattening our org structure to 5 layers max below CEO/COO. Layers slow things down and create coordination tax. The future is small, high context teams that can move quickly. Leaders will own much more, with as many as 15+ direct reports. Fewer layers also means a leaner cost structure that is built to perform through all market cycles. - No pure managers: Every leader at Coinbase must also be a strong and active individual contributor. Managers should be like player-coaches, getting their hands dirty alongside their teams. - AI-native pods: We’ll be concentrating around AI-native talent who can manage fleets of agents to drive outsized impact. We’ll also be experimenting with reduced pod sizes, including “one person teams” with engineers, designers, and product managers all in one role. In short: AI is bringing a profound shift in how companies operate, and we’re reshaping Coinbase to lead in this new era. This is a new way of working, and we need to leverage AI across every facet of our jobs. To those who are affected I know there are real people behind these decisions — talented colleagues who have poured themselves into this company and our mission. To those of you who will be leaving: thank you. You’ve helped build Coinbase into what it is today, and I am sincerely grateful for everything you've done. All impacted team members will receive an email to their personal account in the next hour with more information, and an invitation to meet with an HRBP and a senior leader in your organization. Coinbase system access has been removed today. I know this feels sudden and harsh, but it is the only responsible choice given our duty to protect customer information. To those affected, we will be providing a comprehensive package to support you through this transition. US employees will receive a minimum of 16 weeks base pay (plus 2 weeks per year worked), their next equity vest, and 6 months of COBRA. Employees on a work visa will get extra transition support. Those outside of the US will receive similar support, based on local factors and subject to any consultation requirements. Coinbase prides itself on talent density. Our employees are among the most talented people in the world, and I have no doubt that your skills and experience will be highly sought after as you pursue your next chapters. How we move forward To the team that is staying, I know this is a difficult day. We’re saying goodbye to colleagues and friends you've been in the trenches with. But here’s what I want you to know as we move forward together: Over the past 13 years, we have weathered four crypto winters, gone public, and built the most trusted platform in our industry. We’ve made it this far by making hard decisions and by always staying focused on our mission. This time will be no different – nothing has changed about the long term outlook of our company or industry. And most importantly, our mission has never been more important for the world. Increasing economic freedom requires a new financial system, and we’re building it. The Coinbase that emerges from this will be more capable than ever to achieve our mission. Brian

I am happy to say i topped 6 out of 500+ participants in the Move contest on @sherlockdefi > I didn’t touch the code once. > I built an algorithm from absolute scratch. > It found 4 out of the 6 issues that made the top 6. > I never opened the source > I and @Pelz_Dev only wrote the reports and submitted the findings. > I’ve been building this in silence. No clout. No noise. > Because I don’t talk about shit I can’t prove. > This isn’t here to replace auditors. > It’s here to show the beauty of hacking live contracts on-chain in real time. No lowballing. No shortcuts. Just straight, undeniable proof of work, exactly how black hats are already using AI. > I built this because I’ve been cheated on, played, and ignored too many times. It runs in 3 phases: 1. Contests: This was my backtesting ground. 2. Bug bounties: where I show real results. 3. Live chains: Instances deployed on mainnet, auto-targeting protocols that push unaudited commits straight to chain. Currently at 50% complete. still building and implementing. One of its features is that when it hits a protocol with closed-source code on-chain, it automatically decompiles the bytecode back into clean, human-readable source, then throws its entire knowledge graph and reasoning engine at it. It systematically breaks down every layer until the protocol is fully reverse-engineered and every vulnerability is exposed. This is just the beginning.

Roles our ecosystem is looking for and people I endorse. Roles - Brainrot video editor (Consumer app) - Intern/Marketing (Consumer) People - @basit_ (Marketing/GTM, Product, CT Lead) - @hem_318 (Product, Marketing/GTM)
Basit@basit_

life update: 15 days ago, i resigned from my role at @nunchi to focus on what’s next. this wasn’t an easy decision, but a deliberate one to move in a direction that aligns with my growth. for the past 8 months, i’ve been deep in the trenches as a product evangelist (or “chief explaining officer,” as i like to call it), working to make yield perpetuals understandable for DeFi users. i’ve operated across product, content, community, and distribution translating complex ideas into something people actually engage with, and creating content that reached thousands. i gave this role everything i had. but at some point, you realize it’s not just about working hard. it’s about working in a direction you can fully stand behind. and for me, that clarity wasn’t there anymore. that doesn’t take away from the product. i still believe yield perps are a novel idea. one that requires deep execution and continued effort to make it truly accessible. what this experience gave me is clarity on where i do my best work. i’m leaning into GTM and business development. i’m at my strongest when i help teams bridge the gap between product, UX, and distribution, turning complex systems into something people actually understand and use. and at the core of that, i’ll always be a product “evangelist”. if you’re building and thinking seriously about growth, GTM, or BD. i’d love to work with you.

𝐈 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐲 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧. Something that once felt far away, almost unrealistic at some point. This is not just a win, but a reminder of what consistent effort can actually turn into. few years ago I didn’t have a clear direction. I just knew I wanted more. More than where I was, more than what I was seeing, more than what felt possible at the time. So I started trying things. Failing quietly, learning, starting again. No big announcements, no validation, just me showing up every day and figuring it out as I went. At first my only goal was simple. Just get better, earn something, prove to myself that I could actually make this work. And I did. But like most people, there were moments where it started to feel like that was enough, like I could slow down a bit. That mindset is dangerous. Because the moment you tell yourself this is okay, you stop pushing. And when you stop pushing, you stop growing. I had to change that. I shifted my focus. I stopped just trying to get by and started building something real. I leaned into Web3, started putting myself out there, connecting with people and creating opportunities instead of waiting for them. And that changed everything. It made me realize something. A lot of people don’t lack motivation. They’ve just outgrown their reason. When your goals are too small, your effort becomes small. When your vision expands, your actions follow. Right now I’m not where I want to be yet, but I’m far from where I started and that gap means everything to me. So I’m raising the standard again. Bigger goals, more visibility, building things that actually matter and not getting comfortable too early. If you’ve been part of my journey in any way, I appreciate you. If your direction feels small, it’s probably time to expand it. The bigger the life you want, the bigger the standard you need. Web3 did this, God did this, see you at the top 💙🦅

AI can find smart contract bugs. But can it prove them? That's the gap I built DeTest to close. @PashovAuditGrp solidity-auditor skill is genuinely impressive — 8 parallel agents, 266 attack vectors, structured findings in minutes. But findings without proof are still just opinions. DeTest is a Claude Code skill that sits downstream of pashov. It reads the audit report, classifies each finding, writes a Foundry test, runs forge test, iterates up to 3 times, and returns a verdict: Confirmed— test passes, trace matches the exploit path UnConfirmed — couldn't prove it InConclusive — untestable by design (mempool, off-chain actors etc.) A finding only becomes evidence when a Foundry test passes and the call trace confirms the attack path. No passing test = no confirmed finding. Simple. The full pipeline I'm running: 1/ @pashov → discovers vulnerabilities 2/ DeTest → proves or disproves with Foundry tests 3/ @hackenproof triage skill → scope check, duplicate check, severity, submission Discovery → Verification → Submission. DeTest is open source. github.com/thenameisdevai… Built on top of pashov's work. Powered by Foundry. Running on Claude Code. Building in public.
