@JayLleweIIyn That’s a back 4 that concedes 20 set piece goals every year - esp as VVD is aging and can’t be expected to dominate aerially for a full season - it’s a miracle he didn’t get injured with the load we put on him last season
English

@LFCZA How many of our transfers look good value - maybe ekitike (unlucky he’s injured). How many of our contract situations look smart? Keeping slot is 95% doomed to fail (he needs to be virtually perfect to win back the stadium). Does this look like a well run club?
English

@yer_man_himself Add that to the messes we created with Elliott’s terrible loan move that crashed his value and failures to complete zubimendi/guehi deals while letting both sagas play out in the media are also black marks along with supporting a lame duck manager. Do you think we are well run?
English

@yer_man_himself Frimpong and mamardashvilli might be ok players but neither mesh well with our playingstyle. Letting jones and konate run down their contracts is poor squad management. Chiesa was a poor gamble. I don’t have any faith left in our decision makers to fill our many squad gaps
English

He bought Isak, Wirtz, Kerkez who we all wanted, got Frimpong who was really good at Celtic and Leverkusen, got Mamardashvili who was really good for Georgia and Valencia, got Leoni who was highly sought after and looks great, signed Jacquet who looks great and who there was big competition for, brought in Chiesa as a back up which we were all happy with after watching him for the last 7+ years, gave Mo and VVD extensions we wanted them to get. There's a raft of outstanding young talent being signed. Came in and had to get a new manager who actually went on to win a PL title, a whole new team of backroom staff brought in
There's stuff we can criticize him for, but to say he's an absolute disaster is just ignorance. He's done a very good job.
Isak, Wirtz, Frimpong, Kerkez, Mamardashvili, Chiesa not showing their best abilities so far is not on Richard Hughes
Dylan Jones@dylslam24
Safe to say Richard Hughes has been an absolute disaster appointment
English

@Jassisidhu Add the guehi mess last summer, the zubimendi farce (not keeping that quiet till it was done - Arteta clearly asked him to wait a yr). Buying mamad and frimpong who clearly can’t play in a pocession based team. Not buying a winger last year. Keeping a lame duck manager etc
English

@Jassisidhu I have sympathy with the SD/club over the contract mess with salah/virgil/trent. But konate, jones and the lack of wingers was obvious and easy to solve. Do we really think konate and jones wouldn’t have signed contracts 2 years ago if the club negotiated appropriately?
English

mad watching the laptop nerds fan club tie themselves into absolute knots trying to defend the state were in
"oh they're just cleaning up klopps mess"
"its not them its the manager"
"they bought well its just mitigating circumstances"
you should be very worried about the level of delusion around the club right now
no one willing to admit they're wrong
zero accountability
no answers just excuses
owners who have lost interest
everything klopp instilled in the club has been removed bit by bit
were back to where we were the summer before klopp saved us
what's left is a hollow corportate husk
this club is built on heart and soul
we cannot afford to lose it this quickly

@HenryJackson87 Gamble on number of attackers if they don’t sign 3. Gamble on lame duck manager getting fans back on side. Gamble on CB depth. Gamble on RB depth/bradly fitness. Gamble that Wharton can improve our build up while still improving us out of procession. Not looking good to me
English

@HenryJackson87 Big gamble by Liverpool with a poor gambling batting average last 3 yrs. Leoni coming back from ACL - lots of evidence players struggle with form/fitness after knee injuries. Virgil is 35 & can’t play all the games while maintain form. Jacquet is a novice. Gomez isn’t reliable 😬
English

@stehoare It’s madness of the club to put this pressure on them - esp as both have had major injuries last year and would have benefited from an experience player to help them next season (and the year after when Virgil leaves). Also why didn’t they give him a send off after the game?
English

Bring me Lacroix or Van de Ven.
Midnite@midnite
Liverpool fans, With Konate leaving, who do you want as his replacement?
Nederlands

@LewisBower2021 This isn’t going to end well. Backing a lame duck manager who needs a lot luck to survive next season while simultaneously letting multiple experienced PL players leave for no/limited transfer fees is a recipe for disaster
English

Removing myself as a fan of the club and looking at the club in isolation, what is happening at Liverpool right now would be interesting as an in depth psychoanalytic and sporting case study for football as a whole.
We are witnessing the awkward marriage of data and emotion. Is it possible for a club like Liverpool, an institution physicalised by emotion, arguably more than most clubs to make base all decisions with a quantitive backdrop. It is simply naive to suggest that the majority of transfers don’t, or shouldn’t work in this way - an integral tool. But when results do not go the way of the stats, it only further outlines the disconnect between fans and structure.
This approach can exist at Liverpool, but the fans, coach and set-up need to move autonomously as one. There needs to be a level of connection.
English

@greggmunikwa It’s a really poor way to treat a popular player in the squad
English

@SamMcGuire90 Really badly run club. Apart from anything else why didn’t they let him have a send off last week. It’s a terrible way to treat a player
English

@HenryJackson87 Isak, Wirtz and leoni all have potential to be excellent players for us, ekitike was a great signing but his injury is so bad he may never be close to same player let alone one that had potential to be top class. Kerkez seems a bad fit unless you player a cb/fb hybrid at RB
English

@HenryJackson87 mamdashvilli is the worst as his shortcomings on the ball are so obvious it’s hard to ever see him becoming a good enough. Frompong a close 2nd. The damming thing is both players profile completely opposite to what we need to make other signings (Wirtz & kerkez esp) work.
English

@HenryJackson87 Virgil, Ali or Wirtz. It would be great for wirtz’s confidence if he has a great world up.
English

@MiguelDelaney They have spent > billion £ and are one of the biggest spenders of this decade. You can praise them for good business but don’t make out they are paupers when they have spent fortunes and their record transfer sale is still oxlaide-chamberlain - you’re better than this
English

It’s an unpopular view but Arsenal’s title is the story of considerable overperformance against wealthier opposition - City’s higher wage bill is the equivalent of more than five Sakas
It wasn’t always pretty but it is maximising everything you’ve got

Liverpool 0-4 Brentford
Forest 0-3 Bournemouth
James Pearce@JamesPearceLFC
Haaland’s late equaliser huge for Liverpool. Means Slot’s side go into Sunday’s final game of the season at home to Brentford three points clear of Bournemouth. Liverpool’s goal difference is superior by six. Champions League football effectively salvaged. It’s been a struggle.
English

@BackseatsmanLFC Jeez that’s convoluted given a city win was even better for us
