@davidtalksp0rts I'd like to have been a fly on the wall when they were discussing transfer targets and team strategy. They're definitely misused, they seem to have been misprofiled, seemingly both right now. You're absolutely correct, that's what the fullbacks are, great in transitions/counter

@yer_man_himself Like, Kerkez and Frimpong feel like Klopp style fullbacks that rampage up and down and get crosses in, but then you have Wirtz who is probably the furthest thing from a “Klopp player” unless he’s a false nine (and obviously that’s not what’s happening).

Homework for the Wirtz doubters. Watch 6 games. 3 when he played for Alonso, 3 when he played for Naglesmann. Tell me what you noticed is different to now and if your opinion remains the same after. Repeat this with Firmino playing for Gisdol, Rodgers and Klopp. Report back

Wirtz 👇🏻 preach it, my guy 🤝
Space | ™@ITKSpace

The same people who tried to downplay Dominik Szoboszlai or Ryan Gravenberch after their first season are now rushing to disrespect Florian Wirtz, ignoring everything that actually matters, his relentless work rate, his consistently elite running metrics, and the fact that he has been among the most productive chance creators in his very first Premier League season, all while operating in a dysfunctional team under a manager who has failed to deliver on promises made to him during the summer negotiations. Despite all of that, Florian has never once hidden, never deflected, never settled, he remains relentlessly self-critical, fully aware that there is another level to reach and fully committed to getting there, even structuring his upcoming off-season around personal training to accelerate that progression. That is the mindset of a truly elite player, and it’s worth remembering that countless Premier League greats, including Mohamed Salah, Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva, produced less in their debut seasons before going on to define the league and, in fact, European football at its highest level. If certain sections of supporters are too impatient to recognise this after not even a full season, they should remember this moment, because once he is fully integrated, fully settled, and everything clicks, he will take the league apart like so many before him, and when that happens, there is no need to come back and rewrite the narrative.

@yer_man_himself And when has he performed in the Germany team against a serious opponent? Or any opponent in Europe ever ?

@LFC_Franklin01 Respectfully I have to disagree. Firmino was outstanding and thriving well before Salah arrived. He peaked when Salah arrived, 2017-2020, and of course Salah definitely helped in making him an even better player, but November 2015 to June 2017, Bobby was brilliant before Mo.

@yer_man_himself He’s playing in harder conditions now 👍 Firmino became great when he had Salah not Klopp

@davidtalksp0rts This is what's so confusing about our lack of identity. Genuinely, what team are we trying to be? Given the nature of the signings we made, we all assumed it was going in one direction, but it's the polar opposite. The prime examples of that are Wirtz, Kerkez and Frimpong

@yer_man_himself As much as I was super excited about Flo, Liverpool has always been a team that attacks big spaces at a high tempo. That just doesn’t line up super well with his game. He can still be successful, but it requires us to get pacy, technical players around him to play off of.

@Good4uan Wow, players and teams collectively have some bad games? Who'd have thought? Crazy if true. Now, if I was to watch games of a player and his team thriving, I probably wouldn't watch ones where they were steamrolled

@davidtalksp0rts That's definitely a valid point, of many points, in regard to platforming him to thrive. Begs the question again, how do you not know how to get the best out of a player you've spent £115m on? And in May, the end of a season, he's none the wiser on how to platform him.

@yer_man_himself I very rarely agree with Josh Williams, but his description of Wirtz as an associative player makes a lot of sense. His best phase was when he had Jones and Ekitike close to him to combine, and now it’s Dom, Kerkez, and Isak around him. No chance to do the same small space stuff.

@ArneysReds Yep. He's the one. He's a revolutionary, transformational figure and a great manager. But, he said in his documentary, he only wants to manage clubs he's played for

@L4fckop Of course there will be games like that. We were outstanding that night. You could apply this to many of our recent great players in games we got smashed by Villa, Brentford, Napoli, loads more without even having to use the example of big hitters like City smashing us.

@Enigmated__ @HendrickD82 I'd be willing to bet any money, that if he was playing for Pep and City, nobody would be talking about his physicality.

@yer_man_himself @HendrickD82 Rodgers misused Bobby I know that. My issue is wit d player not the manager. Not his fault that he’s skinny but d premier is just too damn physical for him. No matter d coach we get or position he plays, if he keeps getting outmuscled then he’s not going to help us then is he?

@yer_man_himself @HendrickD82 Bobby doesn’t get outmuscled on the ball every fxcking time. No one is doubting Wirtz talents but the sooner he realizes there’s no sexy ball in the premier league the better. Beautiful player but got the physicality of a chihuahua dog. David Silva adapted so I’m still hopeful

@yer_man_himself Probably guess without watching them, the midfielders and players around him are alot closer playing close intricate passes could count on one hand the amount of times out midfield two have found him between the lines this season
