@uckema If the only end to the war you're willing to accept is unconditional surrender than, sure, whatever. I'm talking about a negotiated settlement. Neither side gets everything or exactly what they want but Japan pays more for having started (and lost) the conflict.

The earliest Japan could have possibly surrendered was 44, ie once all oil access was gone and the home islands were within constant bombardment take of us heavy bombers 42? Lmaooooo

@HujeGheiKant @ForTullos Both sides were aware that the Battle of Midway decided the war in America's favor. It could have, at any time after that, presented terms to the Japanese for negotiation and settlement, like how most wars throughout history have ended.

China was considered a crucial ally and the state of China was part of the discussions for continued bombing. You're all just fucking stupid. No idea about any of the actual context of 1945. It's not a defence of the Japanese empire to think it was outright wrong to kill 200,000 people when they already knew the war was about to end.

@uckema I feel like the hypotheticals often proposed leaves out that if the colonies were still in the empire after some sort of representation deal means they slave states would now have sway in parliament that changes the entire equation here
