Today we intro’d a bill to hold NYPD officers accountable if they engage in evidentiary misconduct (i.e. give false testimony, withhold evidence, intimidate witnesses). Currently, there’s no systematic mechanism to investigate or address evidentiary misconduct. This must change

How legislators continue to place their interest over the publics. An excellent proposal to overhaul a conflicted ethics panel was scuttled by Albany pols. It called for Law School Deans to appoint the Ethics panel instead of legislators selecting members.
