The denunciations of Bill Maher as a shameless liar for falsely claiming that Israel was "attacked first" in every war it has launched miss the mark.
A liar is someone who knowingly makes false statements.
Maher by contrast genuinely believes these falsehoods to be true.
Most Americans of his generation hold identical views.

It always amazes me how much hostility I get when I post about how I was raised.
I was born in 1965, so yes, I’m Gen X. Life has been difficult for every generation in its own way. Being Gen X doesn’t mean I think life is easy today. It means I was raised to sacrifice, delay gratification, and separate needs from wants.
A lot of us grew up before overconsumption became normal, before every want was treated like a need, and before excess became a way of life.
So when I talk about values, standards, and personal responsibility, that’s not me being “out of touch.” That’s me refusing to act like indulgence is normal.
Call it old-fashioned. I don’t care. I’m not apologizing for the way I was raised.
You do you. But stop blaming Gen X already.

We are outraged to learn that Canada has banned @RimaHas, Member of the European Parliament for France, from entering the country ahead of her public talks on opposing fascism and liberating Palestine.
In justifying its sudden reversal, Canada has cited the fact that apartheid Israel had blocked her delegation of European MEPs from entering its territory last year, and due to complaints made against her political advocacy. This follows a campaign by Israeli diplomats and the pro-Israel lobby who pushed for the ban.
This indicates that Canada has decided to endorse Israel's accusations against a Palestinian refugee and European lawmaker. Instead of upholding its own laws, Canada is acting as an extension of Israel's apartheid system.
We urge authorities to rescind this decision and explain this arbitrary act of censorship against a European official.
