I’ve known Liz since she was in elementary school. I watched VCSO school resource officers as they mentored her through her journey and Safe Passage Youth supported her goals and her journey. To see that she’s entering public safety, is just a pure joy. She has a servant heart, and now she is giving back to the community. SO PROUD OF YOU FIREFIGHTER LIZ.

We are so proud of firefighter Liz. An alumni, Safe Passage Youth. Having traveled through Safe Passage all through elementary school and high school. She graduated from the wildland fire Academy and now she’s protecting our community. This is how Safe Passage rolls.❤️

@D_Pletcher @KyleBJorrey Yep, had application submitted early (different app layout this year, than in years past). Was really bummed by the way we were informed and of course, this significant hit to our funding. Lessons have been learned!

BIG TO City Council meeting tonight! For starters, council will be hosting its second discussion/workshop on plans to completely reimagine the Civic Center, a costly effort to be sure but one some say is critical to the future of downtown Thousand Oaks youtube.com/live/XT1Z1xUOx…

@KyleBJorrey We missed one signature line and it cost us $8,500 for diaper support for our community members this year. Congratulations to the grant recipients, including Hospice of the Conejo.

If you’re wondering the allocations are decided by a committee made up of local residents and not the council members themselves. The committee uses a scoring system and portions out the funds accordingly.

@RadioGenoa No one cares. She should get a man to protect her. It's no one else's job. As if security is a right

Quick reminders … It can be QUICK. If you’re on-the-go tomorrow, you can drive right in, we can grab the donations from you, and you can be on your way — drive-thru & drop-off style! Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for folks to drop off a diaper and/or wipes donation!

@ohcanada25 @notlouisck The average "starter" home in VC isn't far off from a mil, with many living paycheck to paycheck. You do know home loans exist, yes? Most these folks didn't plop down millions cash upfront and are living cush and can afford to "write off" a house loss. What a wild response.

Very dumb question: If you don’t have insurance on a multimillion dollar house and that house burns down. You do have to pay the rest of your mortgage correct? You would just hope your land is ok and build another home on it. Or sell the land to pay what you owe?

@StephenMPinto but there are many definitions of what “fixing” a person looks like … and the power to determine that and who “deserves” a home can lead to some real problematic decisions about a deeply complex issue.

@StephenMPinto always the full solution; wraparound services should be accessible in these unhoused to housing transitions, but many problems aren’t solved without the stability of a safe and secure housing situation. Your points have merit and the story you shared provides perspective …

Again, I responded to this call (I had a very busy 2 days at work, as FF/EMT on Engine 34, and temporary lieutenant on Engine 41). We got the dispatch for a welfare check for an apartment unit on O'Farrell Street (a rather controversial new kind of dispatch for SFFD, but...

Another body pulled out of housing for the homeless in San Francisco. Our entire approach is deeply flawed. Low barrier harm reduction services are voluntary, expensive, and harm is NOT being reduced. Where's the accountability? @DanielLurie @CAgovernor
