Board Chair Jeff Gorell brought forward a proposal to postpone the move to allow time for the county to evaluate whether outsourcing is the best option, whether the program should remain in-house or whether a public-private partnership would be more effective. Those options will be reviewed during the pause.

Improving safety along the Pacific Coast Highway has been a top priority, especially near Neptune's Net and County Line Beach—one of the most visited and iconic stretches of our coastline.
I’m proud to share that this project is moving forward, bringing marked crosswalks and pedestrian hybrid beacons to help people cross safely. This is about protecting residents, beachgoers, and visitors—and making sure everyone can enjoy our coast safely.
This is the kind of investment that saves lives, and I’m grateful to see it coming to fruition with completion anticipated in June 2026 just in time for summer.

Great to see strong community engagement in Lynn Ranch at a recent meeting focused on emergency preparedness. These conversations are so important to keeping our neighborhoods safe and resilient. I am honored to be featured in The Rancher, Lynn Ranch’s community publication, and grateful for the opportunity to stay connected with such an engaged community.

Today my team had the opportunity to visit the Oakbrook Chumash Indian Museum, and we were truly inspired by the care, knowledge, and dedication of the team preserving and sharing Chumash history. It’s a special place in our community. The museum has recently shifted to private tours and events due to a need for additional support, and they would greatly benefit from the community’s engagement. If you have a group, please consider scheduling a visit or exploring their upcoming events. Learn more at chumashmuseum.org/event-list.

Board Chair Jeff Gorell brought forward a proposal to postpone the move.
The intent of the pause is to allow more public input on the process,” Gorell said. “First and foremost, the primary thing I hear in my office is that the process is happening too fast for feedback that could be meaningfully employed in the process.”

Please save the date for my April Sidewalk Office Hours at the Goebel Adult Center in Thousand Oaks.
I’ll be at there on April 17 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. Stop by anytime to ask questions, share ideas, or just say hello. These conversations are a great way for me to hear directly from our community.
Sharing a few throwback photos from the last time we met at Goebel — Pedro (pictured on the right) is the one to learn from at the pool table, and the kitchen staff always serves up a delicious breakfast at the café. Josh (pictured at the top) even stopped by for a quick drive-by hello when he noticed we were holding office hours next to his appointment. It’s always great to connect with community members at these events — even if it’s just a quick hello.

Air Force veteran Sharon was facing homelessness. Today, she’s safely housed in a neighborhood she loves—thanks to support from the Gold Coast Veterans Foundation Mobile Veterans Outreach Unit, which helped move her belongings and provide essentials to make her new home comfortable. Join me May 7 for the 2nd Annual Leadership & Excellence Awards where we will recognize local leaders while also supporting veterans like Sharon. 100% of proceeds support outreach to veterans in need.

I was honored to recognize National Social Work Month and the nearly 400 dedicated social workers from our Human Services Agency and Public Health who serve Ventura County at yesterday’s board meeting.
Every day, these professionals support children, families, older adults, people with disabilities, and those experiencing homelessness—helping community members navigate challenges and find stability. Their strength, resilience, and compassion make a meaningful difference in the lives of so many.

“For our seniors who rely on these services, we owe them stability not uncertainty,” said Supervisor Jeff Gorell who proposed the pause.
