Five years ago today, the Atlanta spa shootings took the lives of eight people, including six women of Asian descent. Today, we remember the victims and honor their lives by renewing our commitment to stamping out hate wherever it appears. Asian Americans deserve safety, dignity, and freedom from fear. As a member of Congress, I will continue to do whatever I can to condemn and address anti-Asian hate and discrimination.

During my visit to Adelanto, ICE made sure I saw a clean, orderly and well run detention facility. But when I met with my constituents, they told me the conditions were unsafe, unhealthy, and inhumane. This discrepancy is why oversight is essential. We will continue to seek the truth. The American people deserve no less.

I am deeply disturbed by the attack at Temple Israel. No one should ever fear for their safety in a house of worship or while practicing their faith. I’m keeping the injured security guard and the entire congregation in my thoughts. As the investigation continues, we must remain clear that antisemitism and violence has no place in our communities.

The average price of gas in California has surged to $5.20 a gallon. Donald Trump dragged the country into an illegal war with Iran, and working families are paying the price.

Two more people have died in ICE detention, bringing the total to at least 11 deaths in ICE custody in 2026. Unconscionable.   Tomorrow, I am going to the Adelanto Detention Center to conduct oversight and demand answers about detention conditions. No one should die due to neglect in federal custody.

Karoline Leavitt and Donald Trump are now floating the possibility of U.S. troops on the ground in Iran and even refusing to rule out a draft. Americans do not want another endless war, and they certainly don’t want to be forced to fight in one. This is not what the American people voted for.

Trump’s illegal war with Iran is slamming us with even higher costs. Higher oil and gas prices (+11% just last week) will not only hit us at the pump but also for everything else we buy. These attacks were reckless, they have no plan, and Americans are paying the price.

Opposing the Islamic Republic’s repression does not mean giving the President a blank check for war.
