37 years old today. Spending my birthday with a couple thousand folks at Steubenville West. Grateful.

Told my therapist about my absence of executive functioning and overall sadness and she reminded me it's my grief season. My dad and grandma both died suddenly in 2020- dad on 6/25 and Gagi on 8/4. I associate crepe myrtle season with grief.

@cecsquared I can see the lemon working... And I guess the blueberry works for people who otherwise include grapes... But I am purely an apples-never-grapes chicken salad person so I'll pass on that. Texture thing.

Local chicken salad place has blueberry lemon basil chicken salad. How far we have strayed from God.

I turn 37 on Friday, which I told @PatrickMaryOP is sort of an anti-climactic age. He defined it as "not-yet-middle-aged-too-old-for-young-adult" and yep, that's it. Anyway, excuse me. I need to go eat so I can take my back pill.

@SaraPerla8 I like that! Actually Gabe has already convinced his aunts and uncles to come dressed as video game characters so we're well on our way.

@Connie_Ann I would tell the adults the situation and ask them to come to the party dressed up as their 10-year-old selves and be ready to act it as well

So for my son's birthday party, the 4 friends he invited are all going to be away on vacation. Family (adults) are all coming, but now I don't know what to do. Get the 40 year olds to play piñata with him? Postpone? He's turning 10.

@DeltaFlute That's a thought. I grew up one of 29 grandkids all in the same county so that meant I always had a crew on my birthday.

@Citizen1 It's a thought. One family (that includes 2 kids he enjoys) offered to celebrate at the pool with us the following week. I just don't know how to coordinate a kid party with all of them unless we push it off to September when no one is leaving.

@Connie_Ann Oh I'm sorry! Can you have your family party, and a kid party later when they're back? I know this hurts your heart.

My son was so distraught to see me sick in bed from this bug. I had to remind him this isn't the 1860s and mommy is going to pull through. I love his heart.

So apparently norovirus was the uninvited guest at the family 4th of July lake weekend 🤢

I loved Toy Story 5. But. What kind of parents let their EIGHT year old have unsupervised chat room time?!?!

Cantoring today. Visiting priest was a no show. Deacon calls pastor, pastor says do communion service, wasn't explicit about dispensation. Deacon relays this. The scruples start spinning. After mass I text pastor, he says yes dispensation. I'm exhausted and it's not even noon.

I forgot how much toy story 3 just destroyed me. Sobbing.

Toy Story marathon with my Gen Alpha child wasn't on my bingo card but I am here for it.

My dad's sudden death was 6 years ago today. The worst part now is how the family fractured and there's no mending in sight. I've been told this is common. I know God plays the long game.
