This is pretty easily the most impressive athletic accomplishment ever caught on film. I’m not sure that there’s even a close second.

As I see it, and as someone who has investigated/prosecuted hundreds of homicides and sat on several officer-involved shooting reviews, the use of deadly force against Pretti WAS LAWFUL under the known circumstances…even if Pretti had, in fact, been disarmed.
It was an avoidable tragedy exacerbated by an armed man resisting arrest.

Let’s entertain the idea that the @CBP officers in Minnesota had disarmed Alex Pretti just seconds prior to Pretti being shot and killed by the CBP officer, as has been alleged by politicians and many on @X.
(I don’t suggest that’s factual.)
What are the legal repercussions if that’s true? As a career prosecutor and former U.S. Attorney, the law is importsnt to understand here.

Today, DHS law enforcement was conducting a targeted operation in Minneapolis against an illegal alien wanted for violent assault. During the operation, an individual approached U.S. Border Patrol officers with a 9mm semi-automatic handgun. The officers attempted to disarm the suspect but the armed suspect violently resisted. Fearing for his life and the lives and safety of fellow officers, an agent fired defensive shots. This violence is directly fueled by hateful rhetoric from Minnesota's sanctuary politicians. It must end now.
