Goodness me: -70% of fathers feel pressure to be primary breadwinner - 78% of fathers think their work/life balance negatively affects their health - 47% of fathers wish they could take a less stressful job but feel unable to do so Those numbers are insane!

@IrishTimes Why is it always well educated upper class women interviewed for these stories. Why not ordinary girls in working class areas. This pair could have kids if they wanted. What a load of rubbish!

Bemused that the Irish Independent doesn’t identify who was responsible for the despicable float nor sought comment from them nor comment on its obvious antisemitic intent. No decent person would have hijacked a a St Patricks day parade to illustrate the sexual assaults by Hamas on Oct 7 at the Nova Music Festival or on hostages held in Gaza nor on Irish children in schools & institutions by multiple Irish clergy. There is only one reason for the “Epstein” branding & the reporter either lacked the insight to understand it or deliberately ignored it. Those responsible for the float & who engaged in the performance as well as their organisation must be known locally. Accountability not impunity is required. Unfair to all other well intended participants that second circuit cancelled. There is a need to take a stand against this type of disgusting conduct.

@Petersbrooking @TaipeiValencia The only reason “a generation ago” is significant is because of economic shifts. Young men are now less likely to have jobs, homes, cars than their fathers did at their age and they’re looking around for someone to blame for that and clocking women.

@TaipeiValencia That is a reasonable criticism of the 90s ladmag culture, not just Fantasy Football. But still, that was a generation ago. Between then and now, the internet arrived and the male idea of entitlement was imported from America.

A hill I will die on. Fantasy Football with its "ironic" racism and sexism leading to Soccer Saturday then to blokey football podcasts etc was a key step towards the manosphere.

Some may be surprised by how all the men in @louistheroux 's Manosphere doc turn out to be antisemites, but it follows from their logic. First, obviously, Jew hatred is clickbait, but more importantly, these men promote versions of themselves as brave mavericks unafraid to stick it to the feminised liberal Establishment - and as such, they need an embodiment of power to kick against - one that they, in their I-don’t-give-a-fuck performance, are smashing through. They need the myth of the Matrix. They begin with women as the control but soon they move on to Jews, who provide a darker mythology of control for them to perform being not-controlled by.

Supply is vital, but distribution is very important too - who gets these new homes? Young couples buying for the first time? Usually not!

@GregCantyFuzion @judesherry And we need to see meaningful prevention interventions. Allowing properties to lie idle for so long and fall into such disrepair should not be an option in the first place.

@eoinyk It may no longer be socially acceptable to send your kids to boarding school but it is to put them in crèches/schools/clubs from 7am-7pm and then complain when they get holidays. I’m not sure how big or positive a cultural change for kids that is.

@MutedIrish @CorkRulez76787 @ciarannugent Irelands homeownership rate matches the EU average and that has to be read with a huge asterisk next to it- the rate of adults still living with parents is significantly higher, the % drop in homeownership is significantly higher+mortgage rates and rents are significantly higher.

@CorkRulez76787 @ConorJCallaghan @ciarannugent All that can be true and also that Ireland home ownership is higher than the EU average. Our homeless numbers are mostly an imported problem. Half are foreign nationals. You could literally end the homeless crisis and the housing crisis overnight with this one neat trick.

I wholeheartedly support an increase in real wages for nurses and caring professionals This would best be done through tackling the main issue in the cost of living crisis: affordable housing
Deltawhiskey@Deltawhisky007

@ciarannugent Funny that, underpaid irish nurses having to move abroad due to a terrible standard of living with low wages, high rents. Replacing them with mostly third world workers who would be earning really high wages by their own countries standards and most likely staying in crap accom

@MutedIrish @HomesNowIE @ciarannugent Not true. The homeownership rates in European countries like France have doubled in the last half century and those countries still maintain tenancy rights and security of tenure for renters that Ireland has never enjoyed.

@Nick_Delehanty They signed a deal with Goodman for the dept of health building before they’d reached agreement with the civil servants who’d move to work there. A six month+ delay in the move before the internal layout was decided, paying Larry full rent for an empty building

So You’re telling me Larry Goodman owns the office building for Dept of Health… And also the Blackrock Clinic, Hermitage Clinic, Galway Clinic and Limerick Clinic, Dublin’s women’s health centre and more All which receive tens of millions from Dept of Health, which in the last ten years has had its budget increased 101% by €14billion. 👍

@writethewrongs2 @Middlesaxon2 @grok That’s absolutely correct. It’s her CHOICE. The question, which was often asked on Snog Marry Avoid, is what’s going on inside her psychologically to make her CHOOSE to dress like that? That’s what I’m interested in.

Have you ever watched reality television show ‘Snog Marry Avoid’? I asked @grok to do a POD style makeunder, and dress Hannah Spencer in a simple white blouse and black pencil skirt, and smarten up her hair. Anyone who thinks her presentation is irrelevant should take a look. She dresses like a child for a reason. That concerns me.

@MutedIrish @ciarannugent The homeownership rate is plummeting. It was 80% in the 1980s. The number of people currently of working age who will own their own home in retirement will be a fraction of the current rate.

@MutedIrish @ciarannugent Only because that data includes the large number of older people with no mortgage or rent to pay. Ireland historically had higher homeownership rates than other European countries which skews the data. Mortgage rates and rents in Ireland are higher than European average.

@ciarannugent The share of income spent on housing is relatively low by European standards. The main issue is lack of supply driven by unprecedented levels of immigration. You know this although you’ll never admit it because you’re pro plantation just like your Anglo Norman ancestors were.
