Conquesting impossible fractures in human systems, futures, and tools. Heart-led, mind-engaged, typos my real-time tax. Systems over tribes.

I recall a study here in Australia on bees being able to add numbers. A new study now shows that bumblebees can learn via observation. The study had a human demonstrate how to achieve a puzzle setup for them. Where they had a high miss rate before, the bees almost unanimously found the food every time. This is a potential example of social learning normally reserved for primates. Study in the comments #bees #nature #study

ATHEISM IS A RELIGION. IT IS A PHILOSOPHY. IT IS A WORLDVIEW. IT IS A WAY OF LIFE. IT HAS THEORIES OF ORIGINS. IT HAS NO JUSTIFICATION FOR A MORAL CODE. IT HAS NO WORKING THEORY TO EXPLAIN CONSCIOUSNESS. IT IS SIMPLY A VERY SILLY IDEA THAT NO ONE WANTS TO DEFEND.

If we homogenise the globe, how will be celebrate our differences? We'd all be the same. Culture needs enclaves and we should treat cultures like endangered species. They should be preserved so we can continue to celebrate our differences, surely?

Can’t believe I’m saying this, but it’s true. Internet broke societies Internet enabled degeneracy Internet enable government propoganda The world would potentially be a better place without it.

There’s a difference between what happened and what was intended. If harm occurs, it should be acknowledged. But interpretation isn’t infallible, and it shouldn’t be used to define someone’s intent or identity.

Both parties need to appreciate the difference between something that happened, and something someone did intentionally. If both sides concede a little, this exchange goes more smoothly. Yes, an autistic person should apologise for doing something that caused harm, but they should not carry not be made to fee guilty. We can all just calm the farm a little and have a bit more patience with neurodivergent behaviour.

When we stay, when we specialise, we retreat in a way. Into safe predictability. That same job that you know in your sleep for decades upon decades.

There are two phenomena I constantly circle back to, longevity of station and friends or agreeableness being valued over truth and productivity. They are both intellectual short cuts because we struggle with how to determine integrity, competence, depth of trust, and long-term reliability. Humans overweight certainty and immediate outcomes, even when it produces worse total results. @kahneman_daniel Ty 🙏

When we choose the safe option, we increase friction of efficacy. We seek the efficient (lower effort, shortest path) over outcomes. Comfort now vs joy later.

When presented with a choice between a small but more sure and immediate win, vs a larger but less certain and less immediate amount of money, most will choose the safe option.
