Trump has said many things, including to beat a heckler and he'd pay the legal fees. He told the Proud Boys, who were at the insurrection, to stand back and stand by during a debate. His overall message was one of insurrection. But, regardless of whether or not Trump was behind the insurrection personally, it was MAGA and he has pardoned them all and promised them money for what they did. He has been dismantling democratic institutions and checks on autocratic power. He has presented himself as a king. This is about the past decade, not one day. His theocrats are working their way through communities Christians demonize - the gothic community will be arrested as Anti-Christian domestic terrorists if your movement continues. Perhaps you weren't around for the 80s, but the gothic subculture and Dungeons and Dragons players were very much a target by the same people giving Trump his power back then.

A republic is a public works - res publica is literally "the public thing." It is just a commonwealth. Read Rousseau's "Social Contract" as it gives a clear view on a republic - which he states can be run by a monarchy, an oligarchy, or a democracy.
