He was referencing the catchphrase "the beatings will continue until morale improves," an old joke about the absurdity of using self-defeating methods to obtain a given goal. Unsurprising for an alcoholic with a room temperature IQ, Hegseth stripped the bit of its self-knowing irony, turning it instead into just another "own the libs" jab. The so-called Secretary of War blasted out his inane tweet as footage went viral on social media of U.S. Navy Blue Angels flying at an extremely low altitude over Pensacola Beach, Florida. In the numerous clips available, people can be seen covering their ears in discomfort and ducking away from the aircraft's paths. While some people are clearly enjoying the knuckle-dragging, bread and circus spectacle of it all, children are visible hugging their parents and crouching in abject fear. Numerous objects — including umbrellas that could have easily impaled someone — were displaced and sent flying at high velocity. Thankfully, as far as we know, nobody was hurt. But every time those weapons of war flew close to the crowd, they were tempting fate. As just one example of a worst case scenario, the Sknyliv air show disaster in Ukraine claimed 77 lives and injured 543 people in 2002 when a plane flew into spectators. An F/A-18 Hornet, one of the planes visible in the Pensacola footage, weighs roughly 30,000 pounds and can reach speeds of over 500 mph. Flying at a low pass at this altitude generates roughly 130 decibels of noise, enough to damage human hearing, especially that of children. Although it's deeply disturbing to do so, imagine for a moment what would have happened if the pilot's hand had slipped and one of these jets had crashed into the beach. Fire. Shrapnel. Carnage. But of course Hegseth isn't concerned about a tragedy like that unfolding because he has zero concern for human life. Are we really surprised that a man who would gleefully vaporize a school full of children in Iran for no reason is callused towards the prospect of death more broadly? For MAGA sociopaths like him, the emotions, suffering, and maiming of others are meaningless abstractions. "During an arrival maneuver, an aircraft flew lower than standard profiles, resulting in a disturbance on the beach that affected civilian chairs and umbrellas," stated officials with the Blue Angels. "The safety of our hometown community, spectators, and our pilots is our highest priority," they added. "Team leadership is reviewing the circumstances surrounding the maneuver and conducting a thorough safety review to ensure all operations adhere to strict Navy and FAA safety standards." Now that Hegseth has inserted himself into this scandal, it's safe to presume that the review will be aborted and dangerous maneuvers will continue. He did the same thing after the Apache helicopter PR stunt with Kid Rock. Because of Hegseth, the U.S. military is flagrantly ignoring crucial safety protocols and embracing a caveman attitude in everything it does. And this attitude is new to our armed forces. In 2011, after the Blue Angels performed a dangerously low flyover, the squadron's Commander David Koss stepped down from his position just five days later. "I performed a maneuver that had an unacceptably low minimum altitude," he admitted. That's what accountability looks like. But under Hegseth, nobody is expected to act like an adult or take responsibility for anything. "Can’t stand the manufactured outrage by the low-T mainstream media.
