Machetes destroy lives – so we're taking them off the streets. From 1 September, owning, carrying, using, buying, or selling a machete without a valid exemption or approval will be a criminal offence. To allow people to safely dispose of them, there will be an amnesty period from 1 September to 30 November 2025. More than 40 safe disposal bins will be available 24/7 at police stations across Victoria. We're enacting this ban and boosting Victoria Police's powers because community safety always comes first.

If TikTok never existed, we would still have freedom of speech. I prefer my free speech without manipulation and monitoring by a communist regime. China uses it to learn about our cultures, to determine how to manipulate populations. Remember the fake videos coming out of China in January 2020 of people dropping dead in the streets from COVID? The CCP would never have let those come out if they were real. But they needed the world to play along with their psyop to cover up their lab leak. And they knew it would work. And it did. The CCP should have no foothold in the psyche of Americans.

I have been against a TikTok ban for a long time, because it goes against freedom of speech. That said, the current situation where TikTok is allowed to operate in America, but 𝕏 is not allowed to operate in China is unbalanced. Something needs to change.
