Well that’s a wrap folks. Although I wasn’t elected this time it has been a great experience and I loved getting around the area and having the craic with you. Anyone who knows me will know that I will continue to fight for our families, workers and community as a Councillor and I remain determined to effect that change that is badly needed. Thank you to every single person who voted for me and who voted for our message of change. Thank you to my family and Fionnghuala for all their support over the past 4 weeks. I am waiting for my comrades Ruairí Ó Murchú to be re-elected and Joanna Byrne to be elected in Drogheda and can promise they will be fine representatives of the County. I look forward to continuing to work with them here at local level. It has been a blast and I enjoyed every minute of it. ✊✊

Owners of derelict and vacant properties, including the state itself, must use or forfeit these properties. This is especially crucial given that the number of people living in emergency accommodation reached another record high of 14,429 in July—including 2,096 families (up 14%) and 4,401 children (a 15% rise since July 2023). The example of vacant, boarded-up housing shown in my visualisation is Garda Terrace, located just inside the North Circular Road gates to Phoenix Park in Dublin. One way to view the scale of homelessness is to consider that Hill 16 in Croke Park has a capacity of 13,000 people.
