NYUMBANI TANZANIA…Upon my arrival in the UNITED REPUBLIC OF TANZANIA, I had the greatest pleasure of paying a courtesy call on Her Excellency, the President, MAMA SAMIA SULUHU HASSAN. As the first female Head of State in SADC, she has not only shattered GLASS CEILINGS but also exemplified a transformative LEADERSHIP style—balancing feisty determination with a genuine and MOTHERLY commitment to INCLUSIVE GROWTH. I am most grateful for her WARM reception and offering a platform to share my irrevocable dedication to RENEWABLE ENERGY development across the broader Southern African region and the GLOBAL ENERGY landscape. We shared the mutual concern over the urgency of fostering a GREEN ENERGY REVOLUTION that surpasses borders and generations. The timing of the 2025 ENERGY SUMMIT, initiated under Mama Suluhu Hassan’s visionary leadership, could not be more critical. CLIMATE CHANGE is now a Global menace and demands equally universal solutions. This summit has emerged as a CATALYST, bringing together Governments, Development Partners and Multilateral Financing Institutions to forge a path forward. The deliberate focus on SUSTAINABLE ENERGY solutions and REGIONAL COLLABORATION speaks to Tanzania’s pivotal role in shaping a GREENER and more RESILIENT ENERGY future for Africa and the entire WORLD. Her Excellency explained to me that this year’s summit theme, “MISSION 300,” underscores an ambitious but achievable goal of connecting 300 MILLION people in AFRICA to RELIABLE, CLEAN ENERGY by 2030. Discussions have ranged from overhauling REGULATORY FRAMEWORKS to integrating INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGIES and financing mechanisms that ensure both ACCESSIBILITY and sustainability. Distinguished speakers from the World Bank and African Development Bank have emphasized the intersection of POLICY REFORM, private-sector INVESTMENT and Regional COOPERATION. I am pleased to note that this trajectory dovetails well with H. E. President E. D. Mnangagwa’s VISION 2030 that aspires to achieve a GREEN, sustainable UPPER-MIDDLE-INCOME economy by 2030. This mutual vision for a RESILIENT, LOW-CARBON future strengthens the bonds between our two nations and sets a POWERFUL example for others to follow. In President SULUHU HASSAN, we find a leader who understands the COMPLEXITIES of the ENERGY TRANSITION, tackling the entrenched challenges of FOSSIL FUEL dependency while embracing the economic opportunities inherent in RENEWABLE ENERGY. Her policies align with INTERNATIONAL CONSENSUS on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and sets a STANDARD for how governments can lead with CLARITY, PURPOSE, and INNOVATION. Beyond the Summit’s formalities, I was struck by the REMARKABLE development in Tanzania. The massive expansion of the DAR ES SALAAM Rapid Transit System, the commissioning of the country’s first STANDARD-GAUGE RAILWAY and transformative investments in WATER INFRASTRUCTURE demonstrate more than just infrastructure growth. They reflect a deep-seated COMMITMENT to raising living standards and fostering a culture of accountability and VISION. As we reflect on this TRANSFORMATIVE experience, many conglomerates are more determined than ever to contribute to TANZANIA’S Renewable Energy agenda and work closely with the Tanzanian GOVERNMENT to turn the ambitious principles agreed at this year’s Summit into ACTIONABLE outcomes. The time to invest in renewable energy is NOW as this will define our generation, and those to come...ASANTE SANE...
