There's been some real guff written about Arsenal - and Arsenal people - this week, with certain individuals and parts of the media showing their true colours. Those that know the podcast know the reality and what they stand for. It's not hard to read between the lines.

VAR has officiated that West Ham vs Arsenal incident at the weekend. VAR instructed Chris Kavanagh to look at the monitor, then suggested he looks at both Declan Rice and Leandro Trossard incidents but fails to provide him with conclusive footage of any fouls. Chris Kavanagh was only provided with footage to disallow the goal for a foul by Pablo on Raya. A better, stronger referee would have asked for more footage of the reported Rice and Trossard incidents. VAR has literally officiated that incident and put its own spin on it so Chris Kavanagh had no alternative but to disallow the goal from the inadequate footage provided. Make no mistake, VAR is officiating Premier League games now.

VAR instructs Chris Kavanagh to look at the incident on the screen and review a potential foul by Trossard on Pablo, but only provided CK with a one second clip of the melee. VAR hasn’t provided the referee with enough footage to award West Ham a penalty.

@themagic_tophat They mentioned what was happening “straight behind him as well”. They saw it, just ignored it. PGMOL need to be fired and the EPL need to create their own referee pool and take the best refs from Europe.

They said it wasn’t “clear & obvious” because it took so long. Nope - they saw the foul straight away. They just spent ages looking for a way not to give it or to find a pen for West Ham. All the while, ignoring the initial foul of Soucek on Havertz. Madness.

The issue isn't about impeding the goalie. The issue is every team in the league have had their goalies impeded by Arsenal players this season, and nothing was done about it. They allowed those grapples, pushes, shoves and thereby set a precedent on how corners and set pieces were to be officiated this season. Chalking a goal off for impeding the GK, after setting a precedent to the contrary, on the most important game of the run-in and thereby deciding the title and relegation is why people are angry.
