We don't "worship" guns, but firearm ownership is a long-standing cultural tradition in the Anglo-Saxon world. We own them for the same reason the Germanic tribes of the Classical Era built single-family homes separated from one another with individual garden plots. It's just who we are as a people. We are individualistic to our core, which can be a double-edged sword at times, but all cultures have their strengths and weaknesses. As an American whose family has been here since before the Revolution, I can't imagine NOT owning a firearm. Explaining this to someone in Japan would be like trying to explain the concepts of honne and tatemae to the average American. Perhaps some individuals could grasp it, but the overwhelming majority would not. The same is true here. Some Japanese people who have studied Western society, culture, and history might be able to grasp the inherent liberalism and individualism that define the Americans and their English cousins, but most cannot. I'm not saying this as a moralistic claim, either. It's not that one of us is right and the other is wrong in a cosmic sense. It's just extremely hard for very different people to see how the other views a certain way of life as purely natural to them.

Violent retaliation against alleged insults is the norm in the 3rd world honor culture. In Western polite societies, being called a name, no matter how 'vile' cannot and should never be used as justification for violent escalation. When there is clear evidence of pursuit towards a lethal force application against a victim, that is not self-defense anymore. The problem exists in "honor culture," where violent escalation in retaliation for verbal insults is expected. This contrasts with 1st world culture, where "dignity" is the norm, where such insults rarely escalate. That is a massive incompatibility, and why allowing massive migration from these places where an honor culture is practiced is a horrible idea. Western society evolved out of that 3rd world mentality and developed a safer, high-trust social structure. If these migrants can't adapt to that kind of dignity mindset, they have no business being in the West. Because of that, kids like Henry end up becoming victims because our politicians sold out their nations for the virtue signal brownie points.
