Bob Titmus—“Patty” Prints
Most people have heard of Roger Patterson and maybe Bob Gimlin who were the two witnesses of the famous “Patty” making her way across the sand bank at Bluff Creek on October 20, 1967. As the debate rages about whether this was an elaborate hoax or the real deal, how many people realize a researcher by the name of Bob Titmus made his way to the film site shortly after the event to document evidence?
Bob Titmus (1918–1997) was an American taxidermist, meticulous tracker, hunter, and Bigfoot researcher based in Redding, California. Known for his fieldwork throughout the Pacific Northwest. Patterson and Gimlin made initial plaster casts the day of the sighting, but the site quickly filled with water due to rain and creek flow, complicating further study. Titmus arrived at the site exactly nine days later with his brother-in-law and he made several high-quality plaster casts of remaining footprints, documented the trackway, and plotted the creature’s movements on a map.
These casts, including one with a notable midtarsal pressure ridge, have been key in analyses by experts like Grover Krantz and Jeff Meldrum, who argue they show anatomical details unlikely in a 1967 hoax costume. This timeline is supported by accounts from investigators like John Green and René Dahinden, who visited later in November, as well as modern sources like cryptozoology databases and Jeff Meldrum’s research. While skeptics question the film’s authenticity, Titmus’s prompt fieldwork is well-documented and not disputed.
If you’re ever in the area, I recommend visiting the Willow Creek–China Flat Museum in Willow Creek, California where you can see the casts for yourself. It houses an extensive Bigfoot collection donated by Titmus’s estate, with originals and replicas of his casts from the site, alongside other footprints, photos, and historical artifacts related to the film and early Bigfoot research. The museum is located near the intersection of Highways 299 and 96 in Humboldt County and is open to visitors interested in local logging history and cryptozoology.

Okay, but lowkey kinda adorable awkward phase 🥹 Alevins are newly hatched salmon, still attached to their egg sacs and wiggling to get around. Soon, they’ll leave the rivers of Olympic National Park and head for the open ocean.

@oddoldnews Great question. I would have to say it’s all about the vantage point. The nests were constructed in a very strategic location.

@CorsonShane Are the nest built with wind direction in mind? Or is it more vantage point?
