On Friday, my Dad was honored with the Louisiana Honor Medal by @LAGovJeffLandry for his military service. Early this morning, surrounded by his family, the Lord called him home after 87 years. He was a wonderful father, the best man in my wedding, a frequent travel companion, and a dear friend. I’m thankful that nothing was left unsaid between us. His final words to me were words I heard often throughout my life: “I love you, son.” I will miss him dearly. But because of Christ, death does not have the final word. This is not goodbye—it is only until we meet again.

Today is a sad day, when any person would target an American National Guardsman who has enlisted to protect his or her great State and Country. Our prayers go out to the families, friends, and the people of the Great State of West Virginia on this tragic day! A National Guardsman is a citizen-soldier— your neighbor, sister, brother, son, daughter, cousin, and friend. They enlist because they believe in America and are called to a civic duty to serve. America should not tolerate this action. Anyone responsible should be tried, and if convicted, face the full force of the law.
