Today I am imposing visa restrictions against Chinese officials who have engaged in systematic efforts to restrict access to Tibetan areas.   China must restore reciprocity for our diplomats and others to access Tibetan areas in the same way that China’s diplomats enjoy broad access in the United States.

Always an honor to see our troops serving abroad when I’m traveling. Thank you to these Marine Security Guards who are working to keep our staff and embassies safe in Kingston and Georgetown.

Foreign assistance done right can advance our national interests, protect our borders, and strengthen our partnerships with key allies.  Unfortunately, USAID strayed from its original mission long ago.  As a result, the gains were too few and the costs were too high. Thanks to President Trump, this misguided and fiscally irresponsible era is now over.   We are reorienting our foreign assistance programs to align directly with what is best for the United States and our citizens.  We are continuing essential lifesaving programs and making strategic investments that strengthen our partners and our own country.   This is yet another promise made and delivered to the American people.

My prayers go out to the people of Burma and Thailand who are impacted by the earthquake.  Grateful to confirm our teams on the ground are safe and secure amidst reports of severe damage and casualties. We've been in contact with these countries and, as @POTUS said, stand ready to provide assistance.

I will NOT attend the G20 summit in Johannesburg. South Africa is doing very bad things. Expropriating private property. Using G20 to promote “solidarity, equality, & sustainability.” In other words: DEI and climate change. My job is to advance America’s national interests, not waste taxpayer money or coddle anti-Americanism.

“Kill the Boer” is a chant that incites violence. South Africa’s leaders and politicians must take action to protect Afrikaner and other disfavored minorities. The United States is proud to offer those individuals who qualify for admission to our nation amid this continued horrible threat of violence.
