So a replacement level team would win around 48 games if I remember correctly, so if you add all the players on a team you should have a good estimate of how many games the team will win. The Mets as a team had a 41 WAR so that would equate to 89 wins and they won 83 games... obviously it isn't perfect but it provides a quality estimate. I think it quite literally asses how many wins and value players add to their team... so it is "equating to wins"

@ge_ra97 @AlbaneseLaura The best players usually get up around 10 wins and elite players are usually above 5. Last time I checked you need 85-90 of those to make the playoffs... so if anything believing in WAR furthers my case that one player can't carry a team.

@Courtsidecom @AlbaneseLaura Assess by equating what an individual does to wins. It doesn’t do that, it’s nothing more than an inflatable statistic. Analytics always change over time.

@Courtsidecom @SNY_Mets Sure it was a long at bat with a good outcome but Lindor is the one that swung the bat and got a hit. I know he’s being a good teammate but I’m just saying that in reality he’s the one that gave the Mets 2 runs

@ge_ra97 @richmacleod @just_mets "I acknowledge the analytics .. I don’t live by them." what does I don't live by them mean? this is just a vague statement you made that thought you sound smart but in reality its just a whole bunch of nothing.

@ge_ra97 @AlbaneseLaura How did you come up with that logic? WAR just asses individual player value... I don't see how me not thinking individual players can carry a team means I can't believe in WAR.

@Courtsidecom @AlbaneseLaura I’m not blaming it all on him. All I’m doing is questioning his true value because the mets over his span haven’t been that great, it’s an overpay for someone who’s good offensively at a position which at least in the past for the most part has no good offensive players.

A.J. Minter wishes that his Mets tenure went differently. He feels like he failed to do his job. Now, with the trade deadline on deck, he has a new goal: “I want to go out there, keep shoving and hopefully I can give them a nice little prospect back.” nj.com/mets/2026/07/a…

@Metsmaniac26 @SNY_Mets @chelsea_janes @SNYtv there is no one dumber than the guy who thinks Major League Baseball players care deeply about what their teammates think about politics... or the guy who thinks Katia Lindor was responsible for the FO shaking up the team... do you hear how stupid that sounds?

Francisco Lindor talks with SNY's @chelsea_janes about the trade chatter surrounding him and more: "Outside the walls of the visitor’s clubhouse at Citizens Bank Park, Francisco Lindor’s name is pinging around the baseball-verse, which is always eager for pinging names in the weeks before the MLB trade deadline. This year, the deadline is Aug. 3 at 6:00 p.m. The Mets have told teams he is not untouchable in their deadline sale, and superstars on teams that aren’t rebuilding are usually untouchable. So what gives? The answer from multiple Mets decision-makers over the last week or so has been the same: After two bad seasons that suggest major roster renovations are necessary, they are doing their due diligence by listening. They will not pay another team to take him like they have done with burdensome contracts in the past. But they might be able to envision a 2027 team without him. Still, on the pages of social media and in the text messages of executives, the obvious questions are percolating: Is Francisco Lindor not a part of the Mets’ solution? He is having a bad year, sure. But is he a problem somehow? Is there really a world in which the Mets would be better without him? 'It doesn’t bother me when it’s coming from outside sources. When it’s more inside, that would bother me. But that’s not happening,' Lindor said Sunday morning, a few hours before he finished a triple shy of the cycle and notched his 1,700th career hit. 'I try to stay away from it. I try not to read it or really talk about it. It’s just unnecessary distraction. But I am human. I have a family and they all talk and they all hear it. But since it’s not happening in here, it’s ok.' In here, as the British Open enthralls a few teammates Sunday morning, Lindor sings with coffee as he pulls on his warm-up shirt. In here, coaches hurry up to show him something on the iPad – get a little more upright, here’s what this guy’s stuff looks like. In here, it’s Juan Soto’s name pinging around the clubhouse briefly, as Lindor calls out to him when Juan Soto arrives at his locker. In Spanish, Lindor says hello, asks how he’s doing, and Soto returns the greeting. This is news around the Mets these days – somehow, for legitimate reason."

@ge_ra97 @richmacleod @just_mets I looked through your mentions and you are a Stearns supporter, so that likely means you don't hate analytics and advanced analytics do really value Lindor. So I am just confused why you feel the way you do. Stil waiting for a response on this part

He has been a top 10 position player in baseball over that span so idk how that is borderline high level. I will say it again baseball is a very team oriented sport you can't just carry a team to a WS... the Mets have had some good teams but their lack of success shouldn't fall on the guy who played everyday and played elite (or close to it level baseball on both sides of the ball.

@Courtsidecom @AlbaneseLaura Turners team has won division titles and he’s won a World Series. Boagerts was just a bad signing overall. Lindor hasn’t done anything for me to not loop him in there. You paid 10 years for 5 years of borderline high level performance. Never worth it.

So you don't think that SS should be getting the biggest contracts and you don't think FO should weight the fact that they play SS as highly? you think WAR is skewed too heavily to SS? Am I on the right track here? Also, don't loop Lindor with those 2... I think you can admit that Lindor has been a lot more worth it than the other 2 (even if you think he's overpriced).

@Courtsidecom @AlbaneseLaura So glad you asked this. I think Boagerts, Turner and Lindor are criminals who aren’t worth $300 million plus. All of them complete wastes of contracts. An overpay of 20 mill for a shortstop on a short term deal doesn’t count to me. Correa is a clutch machine on shorter term.

Ok so now it is obvious that his wife's support of Mamdani is partly clouding your opinion... This isn't the NBA you can't put all the blame of team success on one player they don't impact the game enough. Mike Trout is one of the best OF to ever play the game and he has played 3 playoff games in 16 years and he had Shohei as a teammate for 6 years. Also, I am Stearns guy but the team this year was very flawed. They are definitely underperforming but he missed on a lot of acquisitions...

@Courtsidecom @richmacleod @just_mets As ive stated from the very beginning he gets paid a ton and hasn’t won shit. That’s all I care about, even if his dumb cunt wife supports Mamdani it doesn’t matter to me. Lindors term with the mets success depends on his team winning. He has plenty of talent around him.

I agree 341 million is a lot of money but why don't you compare that to what other SS around the league make. SS have inflated contracts because they play a very premium position. Ha Seong Kim got 20 million on a one year deal and he can't hit whatsoever. Lindor plays up to his contract more than Turner, Boagerts, Tatis (I know he plays OF now but he was signed as SS), Adames, Correa, probably more guys. Those guy make a similar amount in AAV and Lindor has Also, I have said so many times that Lindor hasn't had a good year but I truly don't think he is declining based on a 40 game sample size when he has an exceptional 12 year track record. If he is still playing this bad at the end of the year, I'd be the first one to admit we need to have a discussion about him declining. But he won't be.

@Courtsidecom @AlbaneseLaura batting .210 dumbassand is 32. The decline is here and he shouldnt have even been seriously considered for MVP in 2024 because he was so bad in April and May that he would have done the team a favor just staying home. 341 million for a player is a lot of money. He’s not worth it.
