@CptAbrams42 For the christians? Pretty decent aproximates I don't have very conclusive evidence as to how did the Muslims look. The chronicles speak of heavily armed cavalrymen, but we only ever see depictions of the north african, ultra-light style cavalry

Certified "no fun allowed" moment but I really hate this meme and it's clones. The scenario on top DID happen, and long prolonged sieges weren't without significant action (assaults, tunnels, bombardments, skirmishes outside the walls, relief forces etc).

In January, Trump signed Executive Order 14380, placing harsh tariffs on any country caught "directly or indirectly" supplying oil to Cuba. In February, when a Greek flagged tanker tried to bring 80,000 barrels from Colombia to Cuba, the US Coast Guard intercepted it, forcing the ship to sail to the Dominican Republic. In March, when the US sought to stabilize oil prices after starting a war with Iran, OFAC issued waivers for Russian crude. As Russian tankers approached the island, the US placed Cuba on a tiny list of countries it said were *still* not allowed to buy Russian oil. Two ships which were en route changed course under pressure. If we had actual journalists, instead of the brainless morons seen smiling and nodding below, they would have pointed this out to Rubio.

@BjorkBrodern The gear for these soldiers is pretty good, the infantry combat was very musket-arquebus centric, so whilst the pikemen were indeed important they weren't as heavily equipped as in the past. That's not to say there weren't more heavily armored cavalrymen going around though.

"Alatriste" (2006) also uses primary sources to inform it's depiction of the battle of Rocroi (1643). Francesco Guicciardini claims that during the Battle fo Rávena (1512) the Spaniards crawled under the legs of the German infantry, wielding knifes and swords. It's not an accurate portrayal for Rocroi, but it does melee combat justice.

There is a scene from the movie "Ballad: Na mo naki koi no uta" (which seems to adapt the same plot as Shin Chan) where they depict the exact same form of pike fighting. This is based on a historical source ( Zōhyō Monogatari) written in the 1660s, that instructs us to "not only thrust" as "it's better to strike. Raise your pike higher than the opponent's and strike in unison". This would definitely not be standard practice for most of the sengoku jidai. My friend @gunsen_history will like me to state that, this advice is from a time where pikemen were there mainly to support the gunmen, and thus wouldn't take the central part of the fighting. It would make sense then, for these men to not be as used to fighting and to develop some sort of drill to effectively end the fights without a prolongued engagement. Still fascinating to see an interpretation of a primary source portrayed onscreen.
