1. If slavery persisted, many of the social problems witnessed likely would not be as intense.
2. The Confederate Constitution prohibited further importation of slaves.
3. Slavery was already dying off. It already waned in the Upper South and would have waned in the Deep South.

For the few things there were to buy you already had enslaved populations you had your money tied too and almost no infrastructure to support them. But in 40 years time the technology would have been able to.

Especially when they weren't really a demographic threat at the time. In fact in 50 years time we probably could have shipped them back due to farm tech. But someone had to free them.

Also I didn't know wanting to leave a voluntary union was destroying it.
And if Lincoln really wanted him to send them back he would have had a plan for after his death.
