@FTX_YoungBoy I think it's a genuine cognitohazard you've stumbled into where "getting it" can trigger a mental break. Something to do with the perfection of the absurdity and what that says about the substrate of reality. Kind of Lovecraftian.

@NyarlathoSteph It's a super interesting era of American politics that's disappeared down the memoryhole. There were huge fractures between the isolationists vs war-hawks and the first group lost decisively. Rothbard's The Betrayal of the American Right is an interesting book on the background.

@iron_redux They spun off of Usenet somehow and I believe they were *the* largest forum system for like 2-3 years before Reddit came along. They had zero moderation at all and no dumb algorithm or upvote system, it was awesome.

@_SatanWatch yea there are a handful of subs i go on from time to time but like dude reddit had a horrendous death. which actually predated, presaged rather, the internet utterly going to sh-t. i remember it. and damn i missed out on those. apparently they were a thing since the late 90s
