@CraigDrebit @RodPedersenShow @EMJMarketing The athletes enjoy the attention through the event as a whole- but to turn it from representing country to being independent takes away pride of representing your country side that many connected with Olympics find so special. It becomes more commercial when it’s independent.

@CraigDrebit @RodPedersenShow @EMJMarketing One of the things that you always hear with every athlete isn’t just competing in the Games (as they can compete in any championship in their sport)- it’s representing their country. The medal table is a small aspect of competition between each nation that is in all major events.

I would have all NOC flags celebrated at the start, the athletes march in by sport & compete for themselves.

Partisanship and hyper nationalism isn't getting it done. Obviously, I'm talking about a sports Utopia. But such is my opinion.

Though it may read one way in the Olympic Charter, most people in practice view the Olympics as much nation vs. nation as it is athlete vs. athlete. Making it nothing with the countries takes away a core part of the Games.

@JohnSiteman @RodPedersenShow @EMJMarketing No, the Olympics are about the best athletes competing and celebrating sports and culture. The NOCs are only there to select the teams. Nowhere in the Olympic Charter says it's country against country, in fact it says the opposite.
