@THutton1146 @BenedictSpence So why dont the boomers stop being so selfish and stop asking for things like the triple lock which screws the young over then? The Greens will be rubbing their hands together with glee because the selfish boomers are in full control of reform

@BenedictSpence Benedict this is worrying. We are as a society if we're not careful going to have some kind of horrific maoist cultural revolution where the young turn on the old. We are better than this

What a lot of negative responses to this fail to understand: - If you want a functioning society, your grid CANNOT fail - If you need a gas backup renewables for your grid, you need it to be able to cover 100% capacity. - If that is the case then your backup isn't "backup", it is the basis of your grid - So why not just build nuclear instead? Does away with emissions from gas plus unreliability of renewables.
James Clark 📈📉¯\_(ツ)_/¯@mr_james_c

The battery capacity to provide Britain with 2 weeks of electricity during winter would cost more than £2tn. Which is 20x the cost of building enough nuclear power stations to provide all the UK's electricity needs.

If you see Project Hail Mary this weekend, I hope you'll remember how I told you over 3 years ago that stuff like this was going to explode in pop culture. -From ironic cynicism to post-ironic sincerity. -Embracing the "cringe" & the celebration of the earnest "try-hard." -From deconstructing the past, to a nostalgia for some positive "vibe" we lost in the deconstruction. -The rejection of Fight Club-era nihilism. -The ability to stare at the apocalypse in front of you and be hopeful instead of a "doomer."

I'm past the point of wanting to stop the Islamisation of Britain. I want to see the people who advocate for it get what they want. I want to take a picnic to a football stadium and watch Guardian journalists flogged for incorrectly positioning their hijabs; I want to watch Dominic Grieve's performative bafflement bounce off a panel of mullahs he helped into power; I want to see Green Party politicians show their voters how they REALLY feel about their pronoun badges. Islam is a bit more than a religion, a private set of spiritual beliefs, a weekly congregation for prayer and reflection. It's a form of societal and political organisation. We know how this progresses from observing other countries. The arrogance to assume it can't happen here, and the odiousness of Britain's quisling cunts who use their rhetorical trickery, their debating club duplicity, their clever cloggery to lube its passage. Maybe they think they're safe because of our "rules" and "laws", as if rules are set by words on a page rather than the hearts of the men and women of a country. Change those hearts and the rules will change soon enough. Maybe they think they're safe because other westerners will weather the denunciations of “racist!” to do the necessary; so Dominic can enjoy continuity of culture AND enjoy virtue signalling against those who ensure it. Fuck that. May your dreams come true, Dominic.
Dominic Grieve@dominicgrieve_

This is a very odd post from a Conservative who says he believes in freedom of expression under law and is a principal spokesman of the Free Speech Union. I appreciate that he does not like Islam and there is no reason why he should. As a Christian it is not my faith. But the use of Trafalgar Square ( with permission) for religious events Christian and other goes back a long way. There have been prayers and hymns, chants and religious events performed there in the past. If such an event 'shouldn't happen again' it raises the question of whether this is to apply to all religious events or just to Muslim ones. If to all, then we are moving like France to imposing secularism as a norm and it is contrary to our national tradition and does not seem to have helped develop social cohesion there. If just to Muslims then it is an act of discrimination against them without any lawful basis. To achieve it you would have to enact discriminatory legislation targeted at Muslims. Is this what Nick Timothy is advocating ?

The UK North Sea The Uk government hasn’t issued any new drilling licenses since January 12, 2023. That’s no new licenses for 3 years and 2 months. Not one. When the Labour government took power in July 2024, they implemented a pledge to stop issuing new oil and gas exploration licenses for the North Sea. INEOS who own and operate the Forties Pipeline have said they can no longer make maintenance investments in it, as the government has rendered the industry inoperable. The UK has 280 offshore platforms and 20,000 oil and gas wells. There’s no capital to maintain anything, or reinvest, because the tax is excruciatingly high. This industry is on the brink of collapse, the pipelines are knackered and unmaintained, because of our own policy choices… as the world plunges headlong into a global energy crisis. Truly the most feckless, self-harming policy set in all of Europe, if not the world. I don’t think this is incompetence, nobody is that stupid, it looks more like sabotage. It’s also illegal to complain about the UK government, especially here on the internet. Embarrassing.

Richard Tice: “If Rayner had any integrity, she would offer her resignation” Angela Rayner - inadvertently - underpaid £40,000 tax. She resigned. = Integrity Richard Tice - intentionally - avoided £600,000 in UK taxes. Tice’s party, Reform, raise ordinary folks’ council tax.

@Free_ByTheSea I don't agree with her party, but you do everyone a disservice in the fight to stop women being driven out of politics if you focus on what they wear and not what they say or do. I'll always call that - and divisive politics in general - out.

Horrified to see Hannah Spencer being subjected to this during her maiden speech - and sadly know its common place attack on women in public life. Attacking women for what they look like shows you fear what they say. Or that they can speak without your consent at all. It speaks more to your insecurities than them..
FreeByTheSea@Free_ByTheSea

Have you ever watched reality television show ‘Snog Marry Avoid’? I asked @grok to do a POD style makeunder, and dress Hannah Spencer in a simple white blouse and black pencil skirt, and smarten up her hair. Anyone who thinks her presentation is irrelevant should take a look. She dresses like a child for a reason. That concerns me.

Sure. Be less dependent on them then. Re-shore entire chain for trident, including the missile system. Move away from US big tech and stimulate domestic sector. Maximise technological sovereignty. Start resisting US asset managers. Actually make things.

It is hard to overstate how much our country’s security depends on the United States. Some people may not like it, but it’s a fact. We get much more from our security relationship from them than they do from us, including intelligence and capabilities we could never afford ourselves, and which are essential to keeping Britain safe. It is a major crisis that this is where we stand tonight.

Reminder that it was Ed Miliband who reneged on an agreement with Cameron to vote in favour of attacks on Syria. The UK failing to act spooked Obama. Obama failing to act opened a door for Putin. Part of my Ed Miliband Theory of British Decline: - he created the energy strategy in 2005 that set us on our path to energy policy - his climate allies ended up running energy policy even when the Tories took power - he backstabbed his brother to win leadership of Labour - His 2015 campaign included things like energy price caps which the Tories stole - see above re Syria - he changed Labour preselection rules which led to Corbyn in power - He's back in charge of energy policy running the UK off cliff - And I'll bet my house that the reason Labour is pushing the Chagos Surrender and the Chinese embassy in London is because he's done a deal with China to buy Chinese kit for his Net Zero plans Watch this space.

EXC: My Iran deep dive, which the Telegraph has splashed on this morning 🚨Starmer wanted to let the US use Dieo Garcia to attack Iranian missile sites last Friday. The defence secretary John Healey supported him at the NSC. But his ministers, led by 'petulant' Ed Miliband, stopped him 🚨Chief of the Defence staff had to tell the Americans how to frame their request on Saturday so ministers could agree it on Sunday. 48 hours lost and with it UK credibility with allies 🚨We've have all thought Richard Hermer was the main blockage. Actually it was Milband, Reeves, Cooper and Mahmood. A PM who can't carry his own war cabinet spectator.com/article/whose-…
