@LukeDashjr @Vikingobitcoin9 Apologies I thought that’s what Mechanic explained in an interview recently? That BIP110 enabled nodes will accept both BIP110 and non BIP110 blocks but that non BIP nodes won’t?

@virtualbacon Non BIP110 nodes will reject BIP110 blocks. BIP110 nodes will accept both. If you are mining is this a risk you would be willing to take?

A soft fork with under 1% miner support can't split Bitcoin. BIP-110 would just spin off a minority chain the market ignores. The real fight underneath is older than the code: is Bitcoin money, or a database anyone can write to? At under 1%, the miners already answered.

@LoveIsBitcoin21 All BIP-110 does is reduce the size of OP RETURN back to 80 bytes thus slowing the bloat of the system and retaining the ability for people to spin up nodes easily.

Adam Back just told BIP 110 supporters they don't understand Bitcoin. "What BIP 110 wants, at its most basic, is a quest to police other people." "If you won't listen to reason, your recourse is to fork. But Bitcoin won't be joining it." The cypherpunk who invented Hashcash just schooled an entire movement.

@TXMCtrades If I wanted to attack bitcoin, it might look something like this massive psyop over jpeg shit. I can appreciate that many 110'ers are well-intentioned, but you are unwittingly fighting alongside Dr. Fauci to jab and quarantine when our immune system is working just fine.

The biggest issues facing Bitcoin are not arbitrary data, they are: - marginal new investors owning price exposure thru proxies run by monolithic state-compliant custodians, and not controlling actual BTC themselves - very few actual holders of BTC transacting on the base layer - quantum computing risks We are wasting time with this jpeg shit

Bitcoin's main use-case is Store of Value There are only 21 million bitcoin, but unlimited bitcoin IOUs Enough people have to care about having real bitcoin (UTXOs) for this thing to work This a much bigger issue than spam

@adam3us @roger__9000 @csuwildcat Adam I thought that 110 soft fork was substantially reducing the amount of arbitrarily data images etc that could be stored, is this not the case?

@roger__9000 @csuwildcat and erode decentralization, security which are critical Bitcoin reliances are going to be rejected. People will fight you on that because they don't want Bitcoin to suffer the Idiocracy outcome.

Fee’s haven’t solved anything so far .. all they’ve enabled is over 40% of UTXO's being dust from inscriptions, ordinals or token meta data. when exactly is this going to be fixed with fees ? Saying “fees are Bitcoin’s filter” overlooks Bitcoin’s architecture. Fees are one filter among many filters. Bitcoin limits block space, data capacity, issuance, supply, computation, and validation through consensus rules. The real question isn’t whether Bitcoin should have filters—it already does. The question is which resources should be filtered by price and which should be constrained by protocol rules to preserve Bitcoin’s function as a decentralized monetary network. It’s clear the BIP-110 is a soft fork for limiting data to preserve Bitcoin’s monetary function.

@APompliano Few more crazy ideas, stop extorting the working class with high electricity costs, stop extorting them with expensive costly food, stop taxing them to death, start paying a fair wage. They build the country not uber wealthy people.

When people ask me if it’s expensive to live in Hawaii, I usually shrug. But this month I was charged for my electricity use of $11.50. Not bad. Yet because of all the additional charges and taxes imposed my electricity bill is $232.42. Make it make sense.

Core should just revert to the old the OP_RETURN limit in the next version. There are clearly more bitcoiners that support BIP-110 than there are that support the OP_RETURN size limit increase. That much is pretty clear.

To all #BIP110 supporters, I’ve listened to a lot of your diverse concerns and I want you to know that I empathize. I disagree with the proposed “solution” (this BIP, at this point in time) but I want you to know that I hear you and I believe that the majority of you are just trying to do what you believe is best for the long term evolution and growth of Bitcoin and $BTC as the world’s best money; the people’s money. Even if we disagree on the BIP, we have far more in common than that which separates us. Let’s keep the lion’s share of our time, energy and righteous rage for the perverse, broken systems and institutions that we are trying to disrupt and dismantle. One love (Bitcoiners)!

BIP110 is a DEFENSIVE soft fork. It is not "hostile", and not a "takeover", and it is not about one person or a leader. It doesn't add FEATURES. You won't notice a thing if you use Bitcoin as money; it's intended purpose. If this is a surprise, you've been fooled and gaslit by the enemy. bip110.org

@Bitcoin_Pirate_ It’s a temporary soft fork meaning it’s a tightening of the ruleset for 12 months to try to stop bloat and keep new nodes easy to spin up. Seems sensible to me.

Fees are already low. The focus should be on increasing adoption instead. Nobody is forcing anyone to run a node. You run it because you choose to independently verify and contribute to the decentralized system. #bitcoin

70% of the blockchain is now arbitrary data. And some of you are ok with this and investing in treasury companies . 🤷 20% of us are now running Knots. Keep your heads in the sand and ignore it as Bitcoin will be fine.. it doesn’t need humans.
