@memeslich Have been running 5E since returning to the game. I run a homebrew system with some homage to 2E. When the 2024 updates came out I told my players I’m only adding the updates I like. I use a mix of the rules and may of my own. Last campaign we even used comliness stats!

WotC just announced 2026 ‘Wizard War’ books: more themed seasonal slop turning D&D into a live-service cash grab. We don't need quarterly themes & corpo calendars. Is this the final stage of selling out Classic Gaming? Was the attempt to bring us back into the fold a ruse?

@Blackmoor_Film When I was 7 my uncle gave me ice skates & my aunt gave me The Hobbit. Society made it clear: pick one! When I was 10 a camp counselor introduced me to DnD. He was a D1 lax player from UMAss. He broke all the stereotypes & taught me at a young age you can be both jock & geek.

I have come out of the closet with my gaming habit. When I was younger, part of being a D&D player and war gamer, also involved being embarrassed to admit publicly that you were a total nerd. There was a stage where I maintained a very stealth approach to my gaming habit. Being mocked for your D&D was actually very common in the late 70's and early 80's. My name is Griff. I am a game addict. 😅😂🤣

"Larpers", live action roleplayers, got mocked so hard That their name was exported to greater culture to metaphorically describe people in MANY situations But I see people.... Nerds, being active, going outside and socializing Not my thing but I think it's a net good for society

@spaceseeker19 I showed up to one of the ongoing D&D session at camp. They were always running the module. Izu the Evil, Greyhawk, 2E. I was handed a thief. If it had a name I can’t remember it. I threw down. Walk climbing. Lock picking. Played the thief for a few other sessions of the module.

It boggles my mind that anyone would remember their first character. I guess for some people it’s like remembering their first kiss. For me, it’s like remembering my first handshake.

Tank Battle My first board war game. It was pretty simple and not exactly realistic, but the plastic tanks were cool as heck. I didn't have anyone to play with so I played against myself - I can report I always won. 😆 I must have been about 12 when I got this.
