@ShockatAdam Evidently you operate differently in the UK. Here he would get nothing. Is that why for the first time in British History the UK welfare bill now exceeds income tax collected from those who work?

£200 a month. That’s what families could lose under new Universal Credit changes. 3M disabled people rely on the health top up. But under Labour, families are being pushed to choose between vital care and simply making ends meet. When will the government stop punishing the most vulnerable?

@simonmaginn @2hrTV The real secondary issue is Labour killing jobs with the first budget (nat Insur re business’s etc for exampld) and disincentivising work with the second budget (extra tax on wages) while reforming welfare to put people into work being contradictory.

@Crofter1798 @2hrTV No, all new claimants for LCWRA will now get half what existing claimants get, whether or not any fantasy job suddenly appears and their disability magically 'aligns' with an employer's demands. It will drive disabled people deeper into poverty.

UK disability benefit cuts New applicants for the health top-up to Universal Credit to receive half of the current rate whilst cost of living rises. If you lose your benefit and reapply, you get the lower rate. Thousands will be pushed into poverty. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

@simonmaginn @2hrTV But as you said, ‘non-eligible people claim the benefit, their claims should of course be denied’ and the benefit bill will align with this and is not a cut in their benefits but denial of claim. They will be in employment with the accruing advantages not attained on welfare

@Crofter1798 @2hrTV @premnsikka Whether they can do any work of any kind, whether any suitable job vacancy exists and whether their disability can be accommodated by any employer is all in the realm of the hypothetical. What's actual - real - is a cut in the money they need to survive now.

@simonmaginn @2hrTV @premnsikka Not a cut Simon, benefits bill will align with people moving in to work. Work brings many advantages to individuals inc improved self esteem, social networking, skills dev, social networking, job & wages progression, etc they miss out on welfare. Not ToryLab rhetoric but fact.

@Crofter1798 @2hrTV @premnsikka Cutting people's benefits doesn't 'incentivise', it punishes. 'Consigned to a lifetime on welfare' is just ToryLab rhetoric. Talk to disability charities about this.

@simonmaginn @2hrTV @premnsikka Evidently as was pointed out by Gov at this critical stage in their lives to get them into employment with supports from the different schemes if necessary rather than being consigned to a lifetime on welfare which does nothing for them

@Crofter1798 @2hrTV @premnsikka If non-eligible people claim the benefit, their claims should of course be denied. Cutting the benefit for *all* new claimants doesn't achieve that or anything like it. It penalises any and all new claimants, the overwhelming majority of whom will be claiming legitimately.

@simonmaginn @2hrTV @premnsikka You have jumped in missing the point. The systemic approach backed by expert input evaluated a large number not to be eligible & so the cut. Those genuinely unable to work remain unaffected. It’s having a disabilty but able to work (as many do) or unable. No disappearing acts.

@Crofter1798 @2hrTV @premnsikka LCWRA is for people who can't work due to disability. Cutting their money doesn't magically make their disability go away. None of this is about 'incentives'. It's about driving disabled people deeper into poverty.

@ionafyfe Yeah. HMRC. So the person who never worked a day keep their winter fuel allowance and those who worked, paid for their state pension and a private pension not to be a burden on the state get it taken away. That’s a record to be proud of.

@premnsikka @simonmaginn It's disgraceful. And the DWP just seem to flip a coin to decide if you are disabled or ill. I wouldn't put it past them to systematically find everyone fit just so they can pay them half as much when they inevitably have to reinstate their benefits. It's disgusting.

I welcome the ceasefire agreement reached overnight, which will bring a moment of relief to the region and the world. Together with our partners we must do all we can to support and sustain this ceasefire, turn it into a lasting agreement and re-open the Strait of Hormuz.

@StephenNolan @gorettihorgan @matrobinson @AndrewHam2004 I think this may also apply to people getting a car for the first time from motability… the new mileage limit is also very concerning and discriminatory, as contrary to what many people seem to think motability is not a free scheme
