I don't have many photos of me from when I was at my sickness with #IBD - mostly because I shied away from them being taken as I felt so awful. But here's one my mum found the other day. Putting on a brave face at my nan's house in Plymouth on her 90th birthday in 2001. Just a few months later I was having a blood transfusion at St Thomas' Hospital as my haemoglobin had fallen to 5 or 6. I couldn't stand up and I was seeing stars... It is difficult to be reminded of those traumatic times, but it is also a reminder that better days can, and.often do, lie ahead. Never lose hope!

It was great to reconnect w/ old friends &advocates in person! We learned a ton,shared thoughts about various topics, &had vulnerable discussions. Throughout the long wkd,we planned new ways to help serve the #IBD community.  I'll be sharing more 📸 &insights soon. #crohns #UC

I'm sick of people attacking Biden for not being in Ohio but instead traveling to Ukraine & Poland to meet Zelensky and stand up to Putin. - There are 7 Federal Agencies now operating in East Palestine - Not a single life and NO property has been damaged or destroyed in East Palestine - Yes, East Palestine should be taken seriously, but Biden's presence would not help anything, and likely would hurt by adding to the chaos - Biden's presence in Ukraine and now Poland shows Putin and the World that we stand with democracy - Biden's presence means the rest of NATO has the confidence to continue supporting Ukraine and democracy - Biden's presence shows Putin and the world that we are not backing away While Trump coddled Putin at the expense of democracy, Biden stands with Zelensky, NATO and democracy.

One interesting outcome here - it turns out that UHC (and possibly other InsCos) records phone communication routinely. Lots of lawyers looking for opportunities to sue/do discovery and get the tapes. #IBD folks who have been stiff-armed on med approvals (esp by UHC), FYI

Dark stuff revealed at United Health Care by a lawsuit filed by an #IBD patient & family. Will insured #IBD patients vote with their feet? Or is that what UHC wants, cherry-picking healthy young people? Legislators need to dis-incentivize treating high-cost (#IBD) patients badly.

I always have a little bit of anxiety in the days before a major holiday because there's a small kernel of worry about needing care at a time when it might be difficult to obtain.
