It still baffles me that Labour do not seem to understand what should be their central mission: vast swathes of provincial Britain, especially towns and small cities, are run down, economically hollowed out, and with a decayed social fabric. Sorting that should be a top priority

There was basically no good-faith effort in Labour or among most commentators to learn the lessons of the 2017 general election, when Labour won 40% of the vote and gained 10 points from the previous general election.
It didn't give the Labour Right the result they 'wanted'.

Sunderland council have done wonders these last years on transforming our city, so many projects happening and having the bridge completed is a massive milestone
I hope people look at all these changes going on ,and don't take any anger for the government out on our council

Good thought experiment here from Tom Forth: if you believe London's economy is being harmed by tube strikes this week, then you should also believe that other UK cities' economies are held back *every day* by not having metro systems.
