A Blizzard is Likely across the Great Lakes Region This Weekend into Early Next Week - A powerful late winter/early spring winter storm system will take shape Saturday with accumulating snow beginning Sunday morning across Wisconsin. Heavy snow and strong winds will lead to blizzard conditions Sunday afternoon through Monday afternoon. Across northern Illinois, precip is expected to start out as rain and thunderstorms Sunday afternoon (potential for strong t-storms) and then temps will fall and rain will transition to snow Sunday night into early Monday morning. Very strong wind gusts and heavy snow is a real possibility for the Monday morning commute before it ends Monday afternoon/evening. Some models are really bullish on snowfall totals right now with the European showing 6-12 inches of snow while the GFS shows several inches. Now some melting will be occurring as the rain transitions to snow but still temps will be falling into the 20s so if snow falls heavily enough, significant accumulations are certainly possible Monday morning. #ilwx

Made the same mistake. I cant believe it was able to get into colder air and then back into a favorable environment within about 50 to 60 minutes of when i decided to move on from it. But i think thats also the beauty about what we do. No matter how skilled and trained some of us are, theres still scenarios that play out from what we think we know. I played the percentage game. +95% percent of the time the storms out west is the play. And i think id take those odds everyday it just wasnt in the cards for me yesterday. Also praying for those in kankakee. I live 45 mins from that area so that area holds a special place got people that either grew up, work or currently lived there.
