the Crumbling Dad

Nothing changes if nothing changes. Time to shift my mindset and pull myself out of this mental hellhole I have been in for the last 4.5 years. In that time, I have effectively been self harming. The reasons for being in this spiral are justified. It is understandable and for too long, I have been far too harsh on myself. I’ve gone through more in those 4.5yrs than many people experience in a lifetime. Some things I have been open about. Some I haven’t. However, like the Doomsday clock, I feel my personal Doomsday clock is getting very close to midnight. Things have to change. No short cuts and I need to accept that blips will happen along the way. Better food choices. More exercise. More reading. Professional psychology. Time to make it happen.

A very rare day where I don’t have the kids and it is a weekend. The house is all clean and tidy and I can spend the day doing what I like. Sun is shining, shades are on, music blaring. Markets, farm shops, cafes and views are the order of the day 🥓 🍱 ☕️ 🏔️

@Miss_Tified_UK I’m genuinely inspired by your journey. I don’t wish I’d done it different, as my life would be very different. However, when the children are older, the may be another chance.

@CrumblingDad Same. I've met one guy from OLD (admittedly I haven't used the apps loads...) where I was really quite drawn to him from the off, but otherwise, I need those repeated interactions to get to know someone.

@ChrisDSmyth Definitely a big issue (lack of exposure). I’m not sure beauty comes in to it.

@CrumblingDad Irrelevant for me given nothing would ever work for me (too ugly and too mentally broken) but these days that kind of exposure has disappeared. With WfH people just don't meet - Even as the person who goes into office, to leave the house, I am the 1 in space designed for 200.

Tough day today. These stats just popped up though and well, most of us are so privileged and lucky to have the problems we have. Only 3% of the world takes an international flight in a year. 80% of the global population have never been on a plane and 50% have never seen the sea. 78% of the population only ever live within 62 miles of where they were born. Needed that perspective today.
