Stammen is having a lot of growing pains so far: - He is often STARTING players we signed to be LHP platoon bats against Righties when the numbers suggest otherwise - He’s started Castellanos in LF, he is not an outfielder anymore, it’s why he was getting reps at 1st base in spring training and had negative WAR. His outfield defense is some of the worst in baseball - He left Estrada out to dry when Mason could’ve come in and gotten two outs even if he wasn’t available for a 4 out save - Said Mason wasn’t available for a 4 out save but let our 2nd best reliever Morejon, pitch 2 Full innings in the same game - He has kept Estrada as the 8th inning guy even though he has been AWFUL since last August - We are swinging at everything and making very little hard contact, this seemed reasonable when it was Tarik Skubal and Framber Valdez but now there’s no excuse - We haven’t scored more than 3 runs in a game - The team looks dejected and lost out there. Zero energy, zero vibes from anyone other than Jackson - Bullpen usage has been… um… strange - Most analytics departments tell you not to start players based on historical matchups, the sample size is too small. 7 good ABs against one pitcher is meaningless - He’s a “nice guy” but the players aren’t motivated, there’s zero passion
