@Padierfind So contemptuous and disrespectful opinion. Personally I spent hours doing reviews because it's my way to helping. Cardano is a decentralized ecosystem where everyone is equally important, whatever levels or skills. Nobody should look down at community work like that.

I believe Community Reviews in Project Catalyst do not in any way represent actually qualified opinions & luckily do not have any large impact on voting results (in the Voting App, the proposals aren't even sorted by Review Ratings anymore). So why not save a few hundred thousand ADA and abolish Catalyst Community Reviews?

I've seen some interesting discussion on #Cardano Twitter about Americans carrying guns lately. Some people love to show off their carry piece while others are amused, confused, or horrified. To understand this American mythos, perhaps you can compare it a Hardware Wallet. "God created man, Sam Colt made them equal." While firearms are and have been used for evil they are ultimately tools can be used in place of bodily force. If you are a hunter, you can use a gun to kill your prey rather than having to chase it down or trap it. If you are a 150 lbs female, you can use a gun to defend yourself from a 250 lbs male who has body strength that would otherwise overpower you. Americans often refer to the 2nd Amendment as a short-hand appeal to legitimacy but it is because our society was born and is continuously re-born out of conflict that the right to bear arms was recognized in the constitution. Colonists used arms to break free from the British empire. Settlers used arms to defend themselves from Native tribes, while the Native Americans used arms in an attempt to slow the settlement of their lands. Slavers used arms to keep their enslaved workers under control and runaway slaves would take arms to protect themselves as they escaped, if at all possible. A gun is part of the romanticized outfit of the Cowboy to protect against anyone who would rustle his cattle or steal his horse. I think what fascinates me most about this mythos is that it highlights the stubborn individualism that is, for better and worse, a part of American culture. While lands were settled, tribes were displaced, and agricultural laborers were subjugated in Europe for centuries before they found a route to America, it was done in a much more systematic manner with nobles, knights, and serfs. But in America, the dream was to get a gun and strike out on your own - then you become the master of your own destiny. So what does all of this have to do with Crypto? Well, when you keep your assets on a self-custodied wallet you are using a tool that is just as powerful in the financial world as a firearm is in the physical world. I truly believe that's why there is such a strong cross-over between Crypto holders and American gun-nuts 😉 Self-custody means that a bank can't use their power to censor your transactions. Self-custody means that governments can't arbitrarily seize your assets with the stroke of a keyboard. Self-custody means that your money is good any time and any place that another sovereign individual is willing to interact with you. This doesn't mean you are beyond the law. If you are doing something wrong you can and should still be investigated and prosecuted on an individual basis. But if everyone is holding their own keys, or securing assets with multi-sigs where they are the controlling party, there is no opportunity for a mass seizure by a despotic government or corrupt corporation. In fact... that seems to be similar logic that the American gun advocates use as to why everyone should own a weapon. So I hope that even if you're one of the folks who doesn't see the appeal of guns, or believe that the negatives outweigh the positives, you can at least understand the mindset of those who want to have them.
