@EmmelineWyndham Recovering from spinal cord injury (don’t ask) I was prescribed lots of pills related to nerve repair, having lost sensation and dexterity in my hands - no more signature, goodbye buttons… Every single prescription element came in blister sodding pack 🙄

Dear God, how I hate 'blister' packs. Push pills out and they rocket out in all directions - except into your waiting hand. Bring back pills in bottles. Do we not have glass and plastic recycling now? Blister packs just end up in landfill.

Money saving tip: stay home. Downside: you will realize how many things in your home need to be cleaned, reorganized or decluttered and you will have endless work to do.

@rocksaltglasses if it happens again i would be super freaked out. like what kind of sickness or deficiency causes multiple teeth to fall out with no warning or damage? Am I a pirate? Do I have scurvy?

Perfectly good tooth just fell out of my mouth this morning. Checked it all over, no cavities or signs of rot at all. No pain or inflammation either, the thing just yeeted itself with no reason. Which one of you cursed me?!

@wrath_776 Had a dog keep sniffing my cat carrier. Asked owner to stop. She said “it’s ok- doggie loves cats but we don’t have one- he likes to see them!” But, it’s stressing Kitty. I stood & put the carrier on my chair with the opening facing the back of the chair to give kitty peace.

@LadyDemosthenes @NatashaCL7 We need to have academic standards for students and hold them accountable. Don’t advance students to the next grade if they didn’t earn a passing grade. Hold them responsible for incomplete work and don’t assume every failure of a student means an incompetent teacher.

All of the above? I think we need to save technology for computer class only. We need to set actual standards to pass, and stand by them. We need to drastically limit accommodations. Not every single kid is ADHD and autistic. Save accommodations for actual diagnoses, and even there still be free to challenge the kids. Help them to achieve more than they think they can.

I challenge anyone who holds to the belief the every generation is smarter than the last to go teach for a couple years at the college level. I have had to dumb down my curriculum SO much, and I am STILL floored at how many just cannot follow the simplest instructions.

@Superpowamario No. The Never-Ending Pasta Pass is only for use by the Passholder whose name is printed on the Pass. Passes are personalized and non-transferable. Passholders must present a valid photo I.D. along with the Pass at the time of ordering.

Tonight is a critical moment for our democracy. Trump is going to use his address to lay the groundwork to interfere in our elections. Follow the facts. Don’t let him mislead you. Our elections are secure and freely administered.

@BasedMikeLee They love to leave out that you only need your birth certificate/marriage license when you register to vote. Not at the polls or every time you vote. Are you already registered? Then you’re good to go. (But replace your missing paperwork anyway. You’ll need it at some point.)

The Sheriffs office in a rural community does a little bit of everything. I once found a canoe floating by my property on the Shenandoah River with oars and a life jacket inside. It spooked me. I was worried someone might have died. I called the sheriff’s office and the lady immediately said “that’s Carl’s” and gave me his number. I called Carl and he told me it had gotten away from him at a boat ramp. He came by and picked it up and gave me a 6 pack of beer. That type of community connectedness is why the office of Sheriff has the highest rates of incumbency. Incumbents have a 45 point advantage (!!!!) in their 4 year elections. In the area I grew up the Sheriff basically ran unopposed. Then his son took over. It was a family dynasty. The office of Sheriff was universally liked and respected. Compare that to public attitudes toward city police departments. Uniquely American approach to law enforcement.

@donandcecilia1 @ZillennialApple When I worked in higher ed, my student employees kept losing my pencils. I replaced the missing ones with golf pencils. Suddenly the pencils stopped vanishing.

@ZillennialApple YES!!!! Also, shorten the pencils. It is much more difficult to break a short pencil, so if a student breaks one, they get a short broken one. Do not just throw them out. They become the borrowed pencil library. The same is true with crayons in elementary school.

@ErdagTaner @BenSasse Kids are allowed on the Hill. There are limitations on kids over the age of 1 on the voting floor, but members can take their kids to the parents office if they wish.

@BenSasse Sounds like Lindsey’s “ignore the kid” trick was just his way of testing the “no‑kids‑allowed” policy on Capitol Hill.

Lindsey had a series of repeatable riffs. My fav—> On my weekly commute from Nebr to DC, I often had one of my kids in tow. My youngest grew from age 3 to 12 over my tenure. Whenever LG would approach me at Judic or ArmedServices, he’d first pretend not to notice Breck, and just dive into his topic. But then, one sentence in, he’d interrupt himself & turn to fist-bump my kid with: “Oh hey dude. Sorry about your social security. You’re screwed!”
Ben Sasse@BenSasse

On the subway to the vote, Lindsey literally struck up the conversation with "Hey Fellas. I love your hats."
