New @FERC rule could lead to a massive change in America’s energy grid:
2,000 GW (2 TW) of solar, wind, and battery projects waiting in the U.S. connection queue
Under new rule, projects will be studied in groups rather than individually

“We need to see the gas industry in the same light that we now see the tobacco industry: sowing all kinds of misinformation and disinformation in order to keep on generating profits.” UK academics urge Royal Society to condemn fossil fuel industry buff.ly/3L0i0rl

Tesla has created over 60,000 American jobs building EVs in this country.
@Tesla is also the only mass scale automaker where 100% of its auto sales in the US are from cars assembled domestically:
• Tesla: 100%
• Ford: 77.5%
• GM: 54%

In 2019, 2.5% of cars sold worldwide were electric. That's set to reach 18% in 2023
At this rate, almost all new vehicles sold will be electric by 2030
That's 40% of global oil demand at risk, by 2030
Now you know why Big Oil is panicking

Good morning with good news: US coal generation fell 28% during first half of 2023, compared to first 6 months of 2022! Coal generated just 15% of US electricity for January to June 2023. It is dying rapidly now. First coal. Then gas!

I wrote a long article about my 2 years of near real-time weekly simulations of a 98.8% renewable grid for Australia.

we have the technology!
australia could achieve ~99% renewable electricity with just 5 hours of storage.
@DavidOsmond8’s simulation, using real, scaled-up data, completes its second year.

I agree but I like to think I'm different:
More wind+solar+storage (up to 100% if you want) and EVs+bikes to reduce CO2 emissions
More meat replacements to reduce land use
More healthcare to reduce population growth
More optimism and confidence in solution so we get cracking

Have noticed that climate scientists on Twitter tend to be problem finders rather than problem solvers. Their solution to climate change is nearly always "We need to stop doing X!" (X = using coal, flying, eating beef...) Ok. Now tell me step by step how to accomplish that goal.

I appreciate conservatives who like EV's and wish that all conservatives felt the same.

Renewables could overtake coal as the largest source of electricity generation for the first time ever as soon as 2024 ⚡️
This is even earlier than expected, but reaching this milestone will require favourable weather conditions ➡️ iea.li/47ehlMm

"Republicans have become less concerned with global warming, even as the effects have grown more pronounced since 2013. And fewer Republicans think global warming is a result of human activity today than they did 20 years ago."

This is news because.... We have someone who doesn't know how to plan a road trip, a biased media agency with a conservative agenda, and fossil fuel companies who profit from continuing to sell gasoline.
A Tesla would have planned the route for him.

An awful lot of the debate around #ElectricVehicles does seem to boil down to people who’ve never owned an EV telling EV owners what it’s like to own an EV

Not a new point, but the near complete decarbonisation of the economy is very popular. Turns out people like cleaner air, a stable climate, lower energy bills, and a country investing in 21st century industries. businessgreen.com/news/4121777/t…

Global electric car sales are set to surge 35% this year to reach 14 million.
This comes after a record-breaking 10 million were sold in 2022.
