@povertyp1mp @spoonfulofhan Yeah, I do know how they work. If you know that your kid can’t be cool on the sidewalk by herself, it’s up to YOU to manage that. It’s your job to protect her from herself until she can make better decisions. Hitting her hurts her in a lot of ways. Look it up.

Hitting your children is abuse. No, I don’t care if your parents whipped you, and you grew up “fine.” If I can’t walk up to you and do it to you on the sidewalk without assault charges, you shouldn’t be able to do it to a helpless kid

@povertyp1mp @spoonfulofhan If your kid can’t stand by themselves yet, you have to keep them with you. That was on you. It’s YOUR job to figure out the logistics of dealing with a kid. She can’t self-manage yet.

Okay, I am not big on corporal punishment but this is a bad take. Young children who aren't fully verbal yet, or won't listen sometimes need to be corrected swiftly and in the moment for the lesson to stick. So, the FOB on our car doesn't work and I have to unlock it using the key, and the only key hole on the car is on the drivers side of the car. So I told my daughter to stay on the sidewalk while I went around to unlock the car because I felt that her staying on the sidewalk was safer than taking her into the road and holding her hand while I unlocked the car. She didn't listen and tried to run into traffic so I swooped her up and gave her two swift spankings on the butt. Assuming she doesn't do something similar again it will probably be the only time this year she gets spanked.

@offbeatorbit Did his coaches NEVER mention all the interested sxhools? It seems like something that would come up during his national championship competitions. The other national champs he knew got offers like this… did he never wonder where his letters were?
