@fiskinexile @AvidCommentator 7-8 million Australians are on welfare in the form of Aged pension, NDIS, Jobseeker or Centrelink. Why aren't any of them working? Why aren't they contributing to society? Why are we as taxpayers funding them? What do we get out of it? You want to end immigration. Slash welfare

@CuriosityCappy @AvidCommentator Australian-born citizens make up the overwhelming majority of all those industries except IT, and are in fact proportionally higher in agriculture than migrants. Same goes for construction. There is no prospect of migrants solving the supply side problems of property. None.

I know people may not want to hear it, but the issue of migration levels and housing boils down to something extremely simple. You can either choose to have enough homes for people to live in, affordably and safely, or you don't.

@ForSureNotElon @AusMigrantPrint @AvidCommentator Uber takes a chunk of their pay. Nobody will work for ride share apps because their pay is terrible. So for a migrant that can't get work in their field of study, it's a no brainer. This is just obvious.

@MikeBromley15 @AvidCommentator People should either retire self-funded or continue maintaining a multi-generational household. Your age doesn't entitle you to jackshit. Your retirement doesn't end anything. Contribute to the country by volunteering, mentoring or teaching. Give BACK to society

@mycleareyes1 @AvidCommentator Exactly. If you don't want migrants, then slash welfare. It's so generous that anyone can apply for it easily. It's a joke. Why would you pay people to do nothing? Until you accept the fact it's for voting purposes, enough scapegoating migrants actually doing roles other won't

@AvidCommentator @CuriosityCappy Who will DR for all of the migrants? Who will hospo for all of the migrants? Who will be nurses for all of the migrants? Who will be accountants for all of the migrants. Stupid argument. It is just a silly in Canada as it is in Australia.

@DoctorBitcoin @AvidCommentator You should overlay this chart in other high periods of immigration. Because this specific one covers the end of COVID, generous immigration laws, cheap debt, low interest rates, an economic boom, a jobs boom and gross inflation. Try again, bud

This is one of my favourite charts ever. The share of new mortgages flowing to property investors is heavily inversely correlated with the proportion going to first home buyers. It is very much an either or sort of choice.

@AusMigrantPrint @ForSureNotElon @AvidCommentator Do you know WHY they work uber? Or ride share? BECAUSE THAT'S THE ONLY JOB THEY CAN GET. The immigration system says to study and work in your field. If you can't, you go home. These lads are in constant rotation from those that failed and are new. Those aren't immigrants

@PaperBundle @AvidCommentator Optimus robots and robotaxis will come in the next decade. I guarantee it. But that is a conversation for a time then. Smarter people are already changing roles again now to future proof themselves away from this

@CuriosityCappy @AvidCommentator The market develops machines / AI / robots to do those jobs. The whole point is markets find solutions to do things better and cheaper if left alone which in turn lifts productivity.

@tmiller_uq @ForSureNotElon @AvidCommentator Get the unemployed working, contributing, volunteering, providing community value. We do NOT need any more eshays, druggies, bogans, crazies, psychopaths screaming in public transport. We don't. They need to be contributing to the system that blessed them with life

@fiskinexile @AvidCommentator Transportation, agriculture, metal refining, IT roles for starters. Ask yourself if there's a housing supply issue, why isn't tradie immigration much higher? Wouldn't that solve the crisis? The gulf countries have tradie immigration. It works

@MikeBromley15 @AvidCommentator There are 7-8 million Australians receiving social services in the form of Aged Pension, Jobseeker, NDIS and Centrelink. All published by Services Australia every year. That's the group that needs to work. Because what's their economic output? What do they contribute? Answer me

@CuriosityCappy @AvidCommentator The same people who do them now. We literally have below replacement birth rates the only reason we need more people is because we add even more. But even putting that aside, we don’t need to cut skilled migration it’s a fraction of the intake.

@JustinBerger15 @Flinders55 @AvidCommentator We absolutely deport people. And we have thousands of people leaving prior to visa terms expiring. The others are appealing via the courts. Isn't that what a democracy is? If they fail, then justice will prevail. If not, then isn't that the point?

@CuriosityCappy @AvidCommentator We managed to fill these jobs when immigration was less than one half of the current level 20 years ago. And when it was half of that again 10 years before that. We'll be fine. Stop bedwetting.

@CuriosityCappy @AvidCommentator We could halve migration and not even touch produce / nurses / doctors etc by halving the student intake and making people apply for new visas offshore instead of using bridging visas.

@ForSureNotElon @AvidCommentator People should be working. There is always some task or role even the most disabled person can do. Many developing countries don't have generous welfare. Hence why productivity is so high there. Here we pay people off for votes. It's true

@CuriosityCappy @AvidCommentator Everything said was true. You assume a lot about people getting welfare assistance. Most are not like that. Most just need $300pw assistance for 3-4 months while they say yes to every opportunity. But centrelink removes payment if they start earning a tiny bit.

@Flinders55 @AvidCommentator That already exists. We already have a skilled and unskilled migration program. We already deport overstayers. We already scam students by charging them 3-4x tuition fees.

@CuriosityCappy @AvidCommentator Well that's how the migration system works. Skilled and unskilled. The point is, we need skilled & targeted migrants to help grow the nation. I consider fruit pickers skilled.

@Flinders55 @AvidCommentator It's stupid to argue about what is "skilled". A job in demand is a job. If somebody's willing to pay, that's the value created.

@CuriosityCappy @AvidCommentator They are incredibly skilled. I have watched and have tried to replicate their efficiency at picking.....not even close.....and I can work hard, all day in a different skill set, but watch a skilled fruit picker and then imagine doing that 10hrs a day, every day. Complete respect.
