@AvidCommentator Watch as people get mad about somebody else creating this entire mess.
Ask yourself once again: why was this conflict even necessary?
They picked a fight for absolutely no reason.
@MarkoMatvikov The big question is can the alt actually provide a viable solution. Or are they really just noise.
Their history shows they got votes in times of crisis (like now eh?). Citizens feel disenfranchised so they voted elsewhere (fair enough).
But let's see if the alt can deliver
@CuriosityCappy Generally agree - but it depends on two things:
The incumbent performing poorly; and
The alternative presenting as a viable alternative.
The Labor party in SA has performed objectively well.
The Liberal party everywhere right now is absolutely shambolic.
The polling ahead of the South Australian election turned out to be accurate.
Labor won in a landslide, Liberals got decimated, One Nation is the new opposition.
The right side of politics is still fracturing - it hasn’t even begun the reorganisation phase yet.
@Allocator82@AvidCommentator Nothing structural will be fixed. Housing, energy, cost of living, wealth inequality, inability to nationalise mining assets, lack of taxes on gas companies, education levels, environment and subsidies for farmers, etc.
People voted out of protest. History is repeating itself
@CuriosityCappy@AvidCommentator You’ll guarantee?? So population holds while more houses get built and house prices rise? What voodoo economics are you talking?? NZ & Canada case in point. If rental vacancies rise, investors 2nd guess purchasing an investment property.
A very happy South Australian state election day to all who celebrate.
I've got a lovely roast lamb ready to go for dinner tonight and a fridge full of cold drinks.
Lets see if the pollsters were right and how One Nation's polled vote translates on election night.
@MarkoMatvikov People are voting in protest and to populism. History shows this occurs during times of crisis and also scapegoats minorities.
As actual problems don't get resolved, eventually this populist party disappears and gets voted out.
I'm predicting LNP to come back strong in 2030
The best outcome for the South Australia election was always this.
Control of the Upper House (Senate)
Labor have the majority with 5 (including the Greens) but they need to elect a speaker who therefore can’t vote, reducing their numbers to 4.
If One Nation & The Liberals remain resolute and form a bloc, they can really push for real reform as they hold the majority at 5 seats combined (Once certified)
If the Liberals at any time end up voting with Labor to give them the numbers to pass legislation, it’ll be shown to be the ‘UniParty’ at work.
This is a powerful result for the South Australian people
@TKoutsantonisMP Tom, I should ask you to be mindful that many racial minorities in SA will certainly feel targeted now. This empowerment of the party will lead to more discrimination against them.
Last night SA Liberals were told to go out & celebrate their worst election result in their history.
I’m not sure that’s the message One Nation voters who are overwhelmingly former Liberal voters intended.
One Nation in SA getting shafted by the preference system once again.
Nearly every seat they have taken votes from the majors, especially liberal, but achieve stuff all seats
@CuriosityCappy@WittySam@7NewsAdelaide Money talks, when it disappears from your Union run super fund. Australian Super got hammered last week, and the fun is just starting.
@mc19579758@Allocator82@AvidCommentator Why are you only comparing to anglophone countries?
There are plenty of other countries that don't have a housing or energy crisis.
@CuriosityCappy@Allocator82@AvidCommentator Your ideology is interesting demand does not matter in Australia albeit we have precedents in New Zealand & Canada
But here if we cut the demand back nope we won't see same as Canada and New Zealand

@CuriosityCappy@mc19579758@AvidCommentator You're not going to be convinced, you're not looking for a reasonable discussion or you would have made some sort of effort to meet halfway. All you people want to do is bog us down with your bullshit. It's getting real old.
@CuriosityCappy@AvidCommentator That has been comprehensively debunked based on the massive incentives and the unique circumstances of Covid - everyone that isn’t an ideologue knows this. Also it’s important to understand that are many other downsides in addition to housing to mass migration.
