I got the honor of meeting @SeanAstin this last weekend. He has been a life long hero of mine, doubly so with his service as a CASA-E. Many aspects of literature influence who we become and Mr. Astin's work as Sam was very influential to me growing up (even now). Be like Sean.

This is the same variety of jingoistic hubris that lead to the Russian military getting its teeth kicked in 30km outside of Kyiv. 99% of USMC’s successful reputation is a product of its very smart and very aggressive war planners (arguably the best in DoD), and I can almost guarantee to you and everyone else that they’re looking at this proposed operation and trying their best not to look at the White House and tell them to “go fuck yourselves with a rusty pipe.”

@Custos_Archive Yes, that's fine, I personally love Gaunt and the variable setting - my point is that he's not new blood and it was weird how few heroes there were. I don't consider "daughter of creed who is basically creed 2" to be particularly riveting as a character or a fresh choice either

@Rimmy_Downunder Well, I think they have kept Gaunt and the Ghosts around simply for flavor. Theoretically, you could play a game set during any time of the universe's history (granted, this makes some things like Primaris not make sense, but whatever).

Guard heroes really need some fresh blood. I can't remember which codex it was, but the heroes available were like, daughter of creed, leader of the Guard on a horse and I think Gaunt who sure I love but where are others? The new guys or regiments? Gaunt is like 400 now lol?

@frogarchist Well I figured I couldnt beat your times - you are a beast at the Halo games - but if I could at least see if I am close then Ill be able to get the 3hr achivements. Thats it. Just a check.

@Custos_Archive But what does that have to do with getting the right times for achievements lol if you're just trying to compare against me to try to beat my times, MCC won't be accurate anyway since I pretty much always play with EAC off

@frogarchist How do I follow you on MCC so I know if I am hitting my level times? Im trying to knock out a bunch of my MCC achivements.

@frogarchist In the campaign settings when you start a run, you have off, score, time & then comp. time and comp. score which compares you to someone you have labeled a rival. I don't completely understand it myself.

I cannot stress enough that seizing Kharg Island is an objectively moronic thing to do. We’d be parking a sizable contingent of American personnel on a tiny chunk of land that’s the current Iranian government doesn’t give a shit about that’s in both MLRS and FPV drone range. We’d be better off just bombing its oil terminals and ignoring it for the rest of the war (especially since the IRGC’s just going to wind up doing that anyways via Grad). Also, it’s Kharg or Khark if you will, not Karge.

Iran is twice the size of Iraq. We sent in two corps and multiple divisions along with an international coalition and it wasn’t enough. Does this clown have any idea what he is doing? @AnalyticaCamil1 Its literally the Shotgun vs Rocket Launcher method. Sure, the shotgun is cheaper and you need to be a bit closer... but the shells are cheaper too. Except in this case, they can throw hundreds / thousands of drones out. Look at Russia, they got the tech from Iran!

@TheIntelFrog Personally, its not when the dfac has surf and turf day that I get concerned. Its when you are in the field and its surf and turf. That's the real problem.

It’s a tale as old as time, and people fall for it every time tensions ratchet up somewhere. It’s been ~20 years since I deployed, but surf & turf was a regular Friday meal at the base. DoD does some dumb things, but being this predictable and loud is not among them.

@WarMonitor3 Without the rise in Protestant ideology, Puritan ideology also wouldn't rise and be shunned in Europe causing a religious schism and Puritans setting off for "The New World". The United States and Europe - and thus the rest of the world - would be radically different.

@PaulTassi I think, the current Destiny 1 Destinations Screen is the best option. If the "core" portal playlists were just icons at bottom left of screen *like* the D1 Destinations Screen, it would be better. It wouldn't feel so... Mobile Gamey?

When the dust settles, I think The Portal will be the culprit for essentially this entire calamity, outside of the natural post-TFS dropoff, which was expected - Entire modifier/power delta system unfun - Power grind was awful and had to be severely nerfed before it was effectively killed, but not before it turned so many people off from the new era of the game during the first months - Tier 5 loot is now broken as it's power creep incarnate and the only tier to chase, but now has to be doubled down on through RAD expansion - The Portal itself is now close to dead between seasonal expansion farming and the Vanguard Ops playlist proving it shouldn't have even been there in the first place But The Portal is too merged into the core DNA of Destiny to extract now, because all these systems were built around it. This is why there have to be "big updates" that include spreading Tier loot to places it always should have been. Now we have messes like the ability to infuse crafted adept variants with tier 5 type perks and enhancements and oh god what's happening. I thought one of the big reasons for such a lengthy delay (June!) would be to start to reshape this core into something else. Instead, it's just creep tumoring out the system further, where it still won't be compelling. Layer than on top of probably 30% of the amount of actual new content the game needs in a given year, and man, things are going to get real dark real fast
