🚫 CLAIM: Once again, the Iranian government claims it has closed the Strait of Hormuz. This is FALSE. ✅ FACT: The Strait of Hormuz remains open for commercial vessel transit. Iran does not control it. Thousands of ships have sailed through the international waterway over the past four months.

Earlier this week, we awarded the Purple Heart to BG Gregory Holden; Col. Mark Wisher (Ret.); LTC Mario Roberts (Ret.); MAJ Tony Jones (Ret.); SFC LaRitza Hamby (Ret.); and, posthumously, MAJ Gregory Stone. His son, Mr. Joseph Stone, accepted the award on his behalf. Their service and valor continue to inspire our nation.

ON THE SHOULDERS OF GIANTS.

Over the past few hours, Iranian state media have continued to report false claims by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) – three in particular. 🚫 FIRST CLAIM: The IRGC (again) claims free and open routes through the Strait of Hormuz are dangerous for commercial vessels. ✅ FACT: The immediate dangers posed to commercial vessels and their civilian crews are the IRGC’s verbal threats and attempted attacks. 🚫 SECOND CLAIM: The IRGC claims Three U.S. F-35 stealth fighters and three other aircraft were destroyed during a recent Iranian attack on an American air base. ✅ FACT: No U.S. aircraft were destroyed or damaged in recent attempted Iranian attacks. All missiles and drones were intercepted or failed to reach targeted areas. 🚫 THIRD CLAIM: Iranian state media is reporting that a commercial oil tanker, M/T Nora, has broken through the U.S. blockade. ✅ FACT: The commercial vessel has not broken through America’s steel wall blockade. More than 20 U.S. warships, hundreds of aircraft, and thousands of service members remain vigilant and continue to fully enforce the blockade.

Today another wrong was righted. At a Pentagon ceremony this afternoon, @thejointstaff Vice Chairman Marine Corps Gen. Christopher J. Mahoney presented the Purple Heart to six Service Members who were injured — one fatally — in a terrorist attack at Camp Pennsylvania, Kuwait, in 2003 during Operation Iraqi Freedom. A U.S. soldier who converted to Islam had attacked his fellow brothers and sisters in arms by tossing grenades into their tents as they slept. Since the attacker was a fellow soldier, those injured were initially not eligible for Purple Hearts. But U.S. Army Command SergeantMajor @BartWomack fought for 23 years to make sure these brave Americans were recognized for their sacrifices, and finally, under this current administration, he was able to make sure that ALL of those who were wounded in the attack received Purple Hearts.

Earlier today, we gathered at the Pentagon for our monthly prayer service. We celebrated the 251st anniversary of the U.S. Army Chaplain Corps and honored the chaplains who have faithfully served our warriors.

Earlier today I had the pleasure to meet with Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu. Members of my team, including @USWPColby and @SeanParnellASW, joined me to reaffirm the strength of our defense partnership and commitment to advancing our shared security interests.
