@ThinkingCC @MarkRuffalo @elonmusk Yes, much polarization, & most do not benefit. But capitalism is not at risk. The OP doesn’t contain a call to communism, it’s an appeal to the empathy that Musk and modern capitalism are incapable of. The child at his table is dying waiting for it to finally trickle down to him.

100% agree, but the world is so currently polarized and the alliances aren’t for the benefit of most. We need a return to centrism and no one is pulling in that direction unfortunately… socialism/communism is what is currently being sold as a solution to the “masses” while vilifying capitalism…

Hello @ElonMusk. This is how you are perceived. Not too late to course correct but it’s getting pretty late. You certainly have the extra money on hand to really help the people of the world instead of the hellbent road of chaos and destruction you are ludicrously barreling down. Put down the Ket straw. 🤪

@ThinkingCC @MarkRuffalo @elonmusk Too many political straw men in this argument to really respond in good faith, but suffice to say that capitalism and charitable giving are not incompatible, and that aid is not communism.

What actually does save lives is capitalism and a strong economy. Completely agree that DOGE was over the top, just like ICE. But it doesn’t mean that they are not correct in principle and that some correction of the course was necessary. The estimated impact of DOGE on lives is vastly overstated for political purposes. The impact of socialism/communism which again is for simple, political power purposes will be far greater and result in far more loss of overall improvements in the human condition. Has has been time-tested over and over again these systems, inevitably fail and plunge countries into poverty and infrastructure disasters. There’s only so much of other people’s money that you can spend when you don’t create it inherently. So when people start on a pedestal, whether from academic institutions or very rich people who are not inherently industry building, criticize from their ivory Towers, I think that is a net negative for the human condition at large, so well worth criticizing by any logical human, including physicians.

@ThinkingCC @MarkRuffalo @elonmusk Strange to me for a physician to put so much effort into criticizing an actor with an opinion, rather than the only trillionaire (several levels more rich), who has real political influence, who employs ~180k ppl but whose DOGE efforts will likely kill millions (per Lancet).

Undoubtedly. But for really rich people to point that way to next level rich is fairly hypocritical to me, and the political pseudo-populism by the elite left is the worst of it as far as I’m concerned. Enjoy your success, try to help others, but hopping on the Anti-Elon bandwagon while you enjoy the benefits of a career built in a western nation due to capitalism and you preach socialism-communism is such BS.

@MarkRuffalo @elonmusk Am pretty sure you could make a dent in the world’s suffering as well. And exactly how many companies have you started that have had substantial job creation? Wow.

World Cup was fun & exciting. But now that USA eliminated, we turn it off. Probably won’t watch another game or match or whatever they call it. IMO, World Baseball Classic is far more entertaining because we love baseball more than soccer. OK, shoot me now.

@CanesDavid @FiSurgi @docmartin22 I generally agree with your point, but this example also makes the point that the higher the stakes are, the lower the bar becomes to get a scan. In high-risk scenarios the r/b ratio will always lie in favor of imaging

@CanesDavid @FiSurgi @docmartin22 This is also a classic presentation of duodenal perforation 2/2 ERCP, which requires more than medical resuscitation. Failure to diagnose in a timely fashion would certainly carry a mortality risk greater than 0.1%, which is the induced cancer rate in the study quoted above

I'm coming to terms with the fact that I may be part of a dying breed of physicians whose mentors back in the day used to berate them for ordering any scan without being able to clearly articulate what exactly you're looking for and what the pretest probability is Instead now CT scans have essentially been continually abused as an extension of the physical exam. All anyone needs to articulate is: I think something bad's happening.... Let's get a CT scan or even…. I'm not sure if there's anything bad going on, let's make sure there isn't anything bad on the CT scan. It doesn't even appear to be necessary anymore to explain what you mean by 'something bad' I sound like a grumpy old man, I know, but I think it's a sad state of affairs. The perverse thing about it is there's no real incentive on the part of any emergency room or hospital system to curtail this kind of behavior because they get paid for every single scan.

Francesca Hong was born to non-citizen immigrants. In other words, she has citizenship in the U.S. because she was born here when her parents were on student visas. And now she is running as a socialist in order to dismantle the American way of life. Tell me more about how this isn’t a problem.

You are smarter than this Ro. Imagine if Bernie had taxed @elonmusk 100% on his PayPal capital gains. We would have no @Tesla or @SpaceX - none of those jobs or GDP. Who do you think allocated the capital better for society? He will already pay $100 B + in taxes - more than any human ever. I hope he donates some to kids via @TrumpAccounts to make every kid a shareholder in 🇺🇸 & continues investing all his heart, soul & money for the benefit of America & all humanity! 🇺🇸🚀🤍
Ro Khanna@RoKhanna

Musk is worth more than South Africa’s GDP. @BernieSanders and I proposed a 5% tax on people like him. In one year, it could fund: - free public college & trade school -$10/day childcare - Special-needs education nationwide Wealth inequality is the moral failure of our time.

@atrupar Reported often, but all I take away is that he's on a blood thinner. Older pts have thin skin on back of hands, minor trauma can cause bruising. Millions of pts in US on blood thinners for various causes. With infinite # of reasons to criticize Trump, this isn't high on my list
