I'm wondering if two long flyballs to center the past two innings by Kyle Higashioka and Evan Carter were knocked down by the wind that is blowing into Globe Life Field.

@JaredSandler I’m glad Joc tied the game with the HR, but 1 hit doesn’t erase his low batting average. But, the other problem showed its ugly face again. Garcia gave up a run so now him & Chris “geriatric” Martin have blown either tied games or leads. This is a problem for the team !!!

Thoughts: 1. Same thought every day but all Brandon Nimmo does is get on base. We won the trade. 2. Pederson got boo’d after his strikeout in second at bat. And he proved later that those fans don’t know ball. 3. I absolutely hate Dave Raymond’s fly ball calls. When he freaks out and gets excited you can guarantee it’s a routine fly out. And if he doesn’t react you know it has a chance to get out. It’s so bad. 4. The guys who were here last year are just as bad as they ever were. This offense sucks. Nimmo rules that’s about it. 5. It was very very unfortunate that nimmo couldn’t make it to second on Wyatt’s bloop single in the bottom of the 6th. Tough read in the moment on his part but nobody even covering first base or anywhere near, he or Janko has to know that somehow and be further towards second. 6. Leiter had a very good game but efficiency remains an issue. 7. Our “high leverage” bullpen options suck so bad. 8. Again. 4-1 seems fun and different. Since then it seems exactly like last year and 4-5 sucks. #allfortx

The Rangers drop their fourth straight, getting swept by the Reds in the home opening series this afternoon. Texas, who had rattled off four consecutive wins prior to the current skid, falls to 4-5 on the season. As expected, the afternoon shaped up as a duel between two young, electric arms. Leiter and Burns put up nearly identical stat lines: Leiter went five innings, surrendering one run on four hits while striking out nine. Burns matched the nine punchouts, allowed an extra hit, and went a frame longer, also giving up just one. The Rangers offense was silent for most of the afternoon until Joc Pederson provided a jolt of life in the 7th, his first hit of the season coming in the form of a game-tying homer. The momentum was short-lived. The bullpen surrendered a go-ahead run within the first two batters of the 8th, and that would prove to be the difference. Tomorrow, Texas looks to snap the skid as deGrom takes the bump against Gilbert and the Mariners.
