"Regardless of geography, youth face interconnected global forces like fragile labor markets & inequalities. This year’s World Population Day global theme is a compelling call to action: we must listen to young people, understand their choices, validate their hopes, and deliberately build the conditions they need to shape their own destinies. We must earn Kenya’s demographic dividend". Mr. Innocent Modisaotsile, UNFPA Officer-in-Charge, Kenya World Population Day 2026 in Nairobi.

In this month’s episode of Take 5, we share an insightful conversation with @aiajayi , a Research Scientist at the African Population and Health Research Center. Anthony opens up about the deeply personal experiences that fuel his mission, why he stays awake at night worrying about policy gaps, and how he’s successfully moving the needle on critical issues like adolescent reproductive health. Watch the full conversation to learn how we can champion better outcomes through research-informed action. #APHRCis25! While speaking at the celebrations, APHRC’s Executive Director, Dr. @CKyobutungi, underscored: “African scientists can do good science and make it count for the people of Africa. A good knowledge system is the foundation upon which we can build sovereignty. I don't think we can have health without a system, and so as we celebrate this moment, we are reaffirming our commitment to a strong African system made up of producers like us, scientists, researchers, academics and users across the board.” #25YearsOfImpact #25YearsOfAPHRC #IamAPHRC @CARTAfrica @Countdown2030 @Zero_Hunger_Ke @amveyange @CKyobutungi @DMdiarafa @RatemoJuliet @williamsila @MangwanaVJ @deborahndlovu @ndonyesarah @DorcasOdhiambo @FlorahKarimi @Waithaka_KE @Chris_Maero @dia_diama @ChristineGer22 @Hope_shete @MuliDavis @Wekesah @CharityWaweru @Waithaka_KE @isabelmutuku1 @Liz_Kimani @cwkabiru @agnes_kiragga @njerimbuthia

My fellow Kenyans, there is something important about CBC and Grade 10 that is not being honestly explained to the public, by the William Ruto government and, unfortunately, by much of the mainstream media. On television, we are told that Grade 10 learners are failing to join schools because of lack of fees, and that schools lack textbooks. But there is a bigger question that neither government briefings nor prime-time news panels are asking. In 2025, the government signed a €180 million World Bank loan for grade 10 & cbc education. The money was released in December 2025. Repayment by all Kenyan taxpayers begins in 2029. According to the official loan documents, part of this money was meant to: - Provide textbooks for every Grade 10 learner (1:1 ratio) - Offer full scholarships to needy students - Build classrooms to support the CBC transition - Provide free lunch for Grade 10 learners Now ask yourself: If textbooks were funded, why are parents being asked to buy them? If scholarships were funded, why are many learners failing to report for Grade 10? If classrooms were funded, why do many schools show no new infrastructure? Something does not add up. What is even more troubling is that a huge chunk of this loan is allocated to ministry offices, administration, and so-called "consultations," while less than half directly benefits learners. If loans are borrowed in the name of our children, why do offices benefit more than classrooms and students? This is not noise. It is accountability. Some truths will never lead the evening news. But they must still be told. Evidence attached below. Judge for yourself.

@KeNHAKenya why are you adding very rough irregular bumps on the A104 without any warnings and in an area where there’s no foot traffic? The rumble strips added are like many rough tiny bumps. 2 accidents already since you added them yesterday

When evidence speaks, and leaders commit, change happens. “As the Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, we view the release of the 2024 HVACS not just as an end in itself but as a call to action to all of us involved to scale up responsive and effective interventions on violence prevention and protection for all children,” @TeybaHassen, Director-General @RRSEthiopia Conducted by Baobab RPC across 20 refugee camps in Ethiopia, this population-based data demands: ✅ Expanded survivor services (psychosocial, STI screening) ✅ Policy action to break intergenerational violence cycles 📕 Read the full report & join the call to #EndViolence among children in refugee settings. buff.ly/OG2LmOC @Baobab_RPC @Pop_Council @dibabay @SKMuthuri @DagimMd @MulualemDesta @TeybaHassen @njerimbuthia @CwKabiru @ChiChiUndie @DrOdwe @MisriMuhe @together4girls @BachaDessi41307
