@UK_Daniel_Card @CyberAlexi @rotate26chars The Geneva Conventions have not stopped Putin from committing wholesale war crimes. They have only been partially effective at slowing American use of war crimes. Rules without enforcement are just lip service.

It’s a global cyber war…. Or is it? Is it really a war? Why does the cyber industry love the word war so much?

@CrispinCowan0 @UK_Daniel_Card @rotate26chars Can I just suggest that if you think war is like MMA with no rules there’s a document that my colleagues and I would suggest you read. It’s called the Geneva Conventions. I’ve no idea where to even start with some of the madness above. @UK_Daniel_Card why do you hate me?
Crispin Cowan 🇺🇦@CrispinCowan0

@rotate26chars @UK_Daniel_Card I am saying that all #infosec ("cyber" in gov speak) shares a property with war that there is no higher power imposing any rules on the belligerents. Either side can deploy any tactics they choose, and no one can stop them except the other side. It is #MMA, but without a referee

Did not have on my bingo list for the day a briefing on the future dystopia brought about by global digital currency by parliamentary security. What a world.

I don’t suppose there’s anyone else here attending the Independence Day Party an Winfield House tonight? This tech humanitarian would love to say hello if you are.

Today, my article on the legal aspects of the trend of civilianization of the digital battlefield becomes available on #OpenAccess. international-review.icrc.org/articles/will-… This is a good opportunity to take stock of some of the discussion it has provoked so far. A 🧵: 1/n

Really nuanced and thoughtful piece on the challenges around how social media platforms handle state media accounts and their potential for sowing disinfo and other harms, based on Meta’s experiences and input from external experts

Proud to share this piece on state media policy development in @lawfareblog from myself, @ljhundley, @sarahshirazyan, and @leeyvonnem. This has been a long time coming and it’s very exciting to finally see this out there. lawfareblog.com/addressing-med…

“It's easy for the dead to tell you to fight, and maybe it's true, maybe fighting is useless. Perhaps it's too late. But I'll tell you this... If I could do it again, I'd wake up early and be fighting these bastards from the start. Fight the Empire!” #May4thBeWithYou

The @metpoliceuk is testing public opinion, announcing today they’re “considering” deploying live facial recognition surveillance around the Coronation. Welcome to Britain, a nation of suspects. Quick note on Met claims (tiny 🧵)

Okay, so I see a number of smart people in my feed getting really exercised about this New Jersey state appellate court case on insurance coverage and NotPetya. Let me explain why people are (IMO) misinterpreting it. And why it's not nearly such a big deal:
